Confusion over Recycling
disgruntled2007 replied to citizenB's topic in The Bear Garden – for off-topic chat
Your friends work is exactly the kind of thing we need. I recycle just as much as I possibly can and I’m proud that I produce less than a carrier bag sized amount of landfill for the fortnightly collection but it frustrates me when obviously recyclable/reusable stuff is land filled..... grr.... -

Disciplinary Advice

Can you tell me if you applied for the card via an employer portal? For example, although my AMEX is Corporate, It is in my name, my address and I am responsible for it. I can spend what I like but I got to pay it off. I then claim back legitimate expense from my Company. Letting other people use my card is against the terms... -
Confusion over Recycling

NHDC collects all types of glass, BIFFA then recycles it. Having spent millions on processing equipment for glass I’d be surprised if it gets dumped... Bedfordshire, however, doesn’t take glass... It seems there isn’t really any excuse not to, though... -

Teletext holiday cancellation
disgruntled2007 replied to Theangel1971's topic in Holiday & Airline companies
Those terms state you may have to pay 90% of the holiday cost if you cancel between 8 and 21 days.... keep trying on the phone.... Can you find another person to go with? That might help you mitigate your losses....- 5 replies

EB has made some very valid points, but it’s worth remembering the flip side of the coin... there’s always two sides... History is littered with companies that have failed because of the militant actions of unions. If my staff starting working to rule, as suggested, I would accept that in the spirit it was intended - which is to hurt my business until I capitulate to their demands. My response? Remind them of their contractual obligations.... start and finish times, break times, smoking rules, use of mobile phones, sickness, notice periods for holiday etc... I’d be using the company disciplinary procedures to great effect, all within the confines of the law.... Ultimately, there are more potential employees than employers so it makes sense to be careful what you wish for...

But that’s not true is it? High grade diesels, and petrols for that matter, offered by the big brand oil companies have higher quality additives and often a higher quantity too which has been proven to improve fuel efficiency and wear... the supermarket fuels do indeed meet minimum specs, but that’s it, no more. It wouldn’t cause a turbo to go though, that’s just silly!
