Sent a DPA letter relating to our joint account to Penny Berryman, Data Protection dept. Is this a standard reply? Should I query the £10 for each person charge?

"Thank you for your letter of 28 February. I will pass your request for data relating to the last 6 years of account transactions to our specialist team and I will ask them to arrange for the transaction listings to be sent to you.

I am not sure what you mean by "manual intervention" in the second paragraph of your letter but I will arrange for you to be sent a print of any notes that staff have made in the customer records system. I hope that this will be helpful.

The Data team will send you a form so that if you subsequently decide to apply for all your personal data under the DPA you can do so. The standard fee is £10 per person."

No, it's not a standard reply. The £10 per person is correct for DPA disclosure - but what is interesting is the statement that they are not sure as to what is meant by manual intervention.

Keep this letter.

Could you let us have a scan?

Certainly. Did you want me to scan it and then email it to you?

The scanned letter which I sent you from the bank in reply to my DPA letter contains my bank account number. Please permanently delete this document and I shall send you a replacement document which does not have my bank details on it.

Don't worry - We would remove any identifiers before putting anything to use.

We aren't like the banks and we won't abuse the trust that people place in us. :D

David Just must be worn out copying bank statements and is sending all requests to the Data Protection Requests Team in Andover especially if everyone is requesting details of manual intervention
