during the storms we have had recently, my wife went to see a friend at her rented property. She was parked on her driveway when roof tiles landed on her car (30 seconds later and it would have hit my wife). We have been quoted about £1400 for repairs. Is it just act of god or do we have any chance of going through her friends landlords insurance etc? any help would be appreciated

thanks

"Act of God" is a very rare basis for declining insurance claims nowadays.

The best thing to do is to is to make your claim as quickly as possible and then see what the response is. Come back here if you have any trouble – and maybe we can help.

You said it, "during the storms" - that'll be Act of God.

To prove otherwise would need very strong evidence to demonstrate that the tile was at a state of coming off anyway and that it came off due to wear and tear in the storm winds instead of being ripped off by the storm winds.

Just to agree with what has been said.  If you cannot prove the roof was in a poor state of repair before the storm occurred,  a claim against the Car Insurance will be required.  Car Insurers will not attempt to recover any claim amount from the Buildings Insurance of the rented property.

Pointless trying to claim against the landlord owner of the property, as their Insurers will tell you to go away in a nice way.

We could do with some help from you.
