Hi

I had an account with NPower up until they were bought out by Shell Energy last year.

I had a considerable debt (£5000 with them but had a payment plan in place of £170 per week.

When the takeover happened, Shell Energy demanded the entire amount, which clearly, I was unable to pay.

This was last July and I have been in a fight with them ever since trying to reinstate the £170 per month DD.

In December they advised me that I should approach StepChange, which I did.

They recommended a monthly repayment plan of £160.

I forwarded the details to Shell Energy, as requested by them.

Subsequently, I have received a visit from their heavies at Resolve Call (who then told me that the account had been handed back to Shell) and now am being told that my "only" option is to have a pre payment fitted and that they will apply to the court if I don't agree.

Any suggestions?

well you can ignore any DCA they are not bailiffs and have ZERO legal powers on ANY debt.

who is writing to you stating you must have a PP meter fitted?

why have you simply not been paying shell by bacs transfer all these months?

they can't refuse payment.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

As far as I can remember, so far only Resolve Call have stated in writing. Shell told me it was the only option today in a phone call and have suggested it before in emails and post.

I was waiting to see what StepChange would recommend. I am able to commence payments at the £170 level today.

well you can ignore any stupid dca's and what's been said on the phone

why haven' you been paying this instead of letting this get to this stage

not having a dd in place is not an excuse if you truly believe you owe the debt?

so get all the money together you've been saving (you have ofcourse kept the £170PCM since april safe?)

and use bacs

their details are on every bill

use your account number with them as the ref number on the bacs transfer.

should do as you are paying the debt off

that's the only reason to install PP meters is because people have not paid..
