Finance U Ltd corner park - help

I wish i had read this thread sooner!

I purchased a car at corner park garages through their in house finance (finance u ltd) back in early 2007 (3 year agreement). I recently fell into difficulty and had about £700 arrears as of october 09.

 

The weiredest thing happened to me......

... one morning i woke from what i can only describe as a nightmare.

 

 

i dreamt that i had bailiffs knocking on my door to reposses the car.

I happened to be on leave that day as was hubby...

... funnily enough it was car problems...

. needed to be taken to garage.

 

 

When we returned home after the garage there was a knock at the door.

The person handed me a letter titled 'warrant of repossesion' and said he was here to reposses the car as we had failed to make payments.

 

 

I was so shocked and embarrassed and pleaded with him if we could have more time to pay.

He said the owner wanted full paymnt or the car back.

I pleaded with him at least if i could speak to Graham.

He said fine so i closed the door while i made the call.

 

 

I spoke to graham and asked if i could have till the end of the week at least to borrow the money from someone.

Graham said fine.

At this point there was some loud knocks coming from the front door.

This time there was a heavy set man (along with the first guy) saying i am wasting his time

and that the owner wants money or the car.

 

 

He was talking so loudly that i am sure the whole neighbourhood could here......

. i felt so ashamed.

i explained to him that i had just spoken to graham and he has given me til friday to pay.

 

This man was having none of it saying that he wanted the money or the car.

He was so loud and rude and so intimidating (bullying).

 

 

I told him to call graham and he would confirm what i had just but the guy was adamant that he had just spoken to graham 2 minutes ago and nothing had changed.

 

 

In the end i just called graham and handed the phone to the guy.

Graham confirmed what i had said to him already.

 

This guy continued to go on about paying up otherwise he will be back on monday.

I told him not to speak so loudly as the whole street could hear him.

 

 

His response was to speak even louder and saying that people should pay their debt and then this kind of visit would not be happening.

 

 

He made it even worse by carrying on talking as he went down my steps and onto the pavements in his mega loud voice (arghhh how i hate him!).

 

I had paid over 2/3rd of the payment, if only I had known my rights then!

Only a few more months to go til its paid off.......... i can't wait!

 

 

i am still struggling with payments.

i was thinking of calling graham and asking if he would agree to giving me a discount if i was able to borrow the money and pay it off early.....

..having read this thread i think i will be wasting my breath.

Hi Post,

 

At the time they came knocking on the door i had paid over 2/3rd. The car didn't get repossessed. I payed most of the arrears on friday as i promised and spread the remaining arrears over my normal monthly payment. I have 6 more payments to make before i come to the end of my agreement.

 

I havn't started my own thread as there is nothing i can do, i was just adding my own experience of finance u ltd.
