I agree there should be more safety features to reduce the blind spots on HGVs that would minimise the risk for cyclist. However, I think cyclists themselves should also minimise the risk. Going up the left hand side of a large vehicle when the chances are it is going to turn left is suicide ! Car drivers know to stay back from HGVs - if you cant see their mirrors then they cant see you.

>>> National Express boss says biggest danger to London cyclists is themselves

“They need educating,” he said. “If a 44-tonne lorry is indicating left and a cyclist decides to skip past on the truck’s inside, the cyclist is going to be dead.

“There’s no use blaming the HGV driver – cyclists need to stay back. If you can’t see the driver’s mirrors he can’t see you.”

Mr mayor BJ should stop wasting money on cyclists and invest in infrastructures to allow disable people to use the whole public transport network.

That is a real human right!

Anyone who thinks that cyclists are victims, just go to any road in London at rush hour and see what a lot of them do.

Of course there are good and bad, but the percentage of bad cyclists is appallingly high.
