Hi,

I would actually give McMillan a ring - they have loads more experience dealing with this situation than probably any of us.

Never assume anyone on the internet is who they say they are. Only rely on advice from insured professionals you have paid for!

Hi,

Macmillan are good, but GOSH has a CLIC Sargent (children's cancer charity) specialist social work team on 020 7829 8896, who will be able to provide advice and support. There's also an in-house CAB at GOSH who give advice on benefits etc., but you need a referral from the social work team to access it.

In my experience (I'm a medical welfare officer), the support at GOSH, and indeed any specialist children's cancer unit, is excellent, but the sooner you make contact the easier it is for them to help.
