Several years ago I ran up a debt on a Virgin credit card. I asked if I could pay £60 a month to clear the £15000 debt but they disagreed and took me to court. A charging order was placed on my home and the court agreed I could pay £60 a month. The debt has been sold on to ME 111 a few years ago. My question is: does the charging order transfer with the debt to the new debt owner?

Did you contest any charges/extra interest on the card? Also who took you to court. Virgin or another company?

It's also strange they sold the debt of.that amount. In any case the new owner can't own the CO unless a judge has transferred it.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

No, I didn't contest any charges or interest as I was totally naive at that time. Virgin was the company that took me to court. The company now with the debt is ME 111 and Optima is working on their behalf to arrange collection.

You can still reclaim charges. check land registry and see which company is administered to the co. Many dcas buy debts but cannot touch the co. That won't stop them claiming they have it though.

" My question is: does the charging order transfer with the debt to the new debt owner? "

It does not need to unless they wish to execute it further...it merely secures the judgment debt until such time you sell.
