I received a letter this morning from e.on saying,

"The department for Work and Pensions may have let you know that you're eligible to get £140 towards your electricity as part of the Warm Home Discount scheme."

Now, my wife is in receipt of and Pension and Pension Credit, but the letter is addressed to me as I am the e.on account holder. I find it all rather puzzling? I haven't signed on for Jobseakers Allowance for over a year. So it can't be aimed at me!

I am just wondering if anyone else has received this and what their situation is/circumstances are? I am also wondering if this replaces the £200 winter fuel allowance?

We share information with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). For 2014/15 we'll use information given to us by the DWP to automatically give the discount to customers who were supplied by us on 12 July 2014 and were:

Aged under 65 and receiving only the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (no Savings Credit)

Aged 65 or over and receiving the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit, (even if you receive Savings Credit as well)

Customers who are automatically eligible for a Warm Home Discount are known as the "Core Group". If you fall into this group you don't need to fill in an application form to receive your discount.

The DWP will write to you from September 2014 to let you know if you qualify. We'll also write to you later on when the discount has been made.

If you're in this group and weren't supplied by us on 12 July 2014, your old supplier will automatically give you the discount.

You need to be the named account holder, or the partner of the named account holder to receive the Warm Home Discount.

And, according to the information in the link below - it will not affect the Winter fuel payment.

My Father is with EON and also got the letter and it has already been credited to the account. It is his account but I pay the bills (live at hole as well) so he is eligible as the account holder in the property. Makes a change to get something from them rather than paying - now got a lovely credit on the account which is nice for the winter. This does not affect winter fuel payment either (so I have heard anyway)
