hi,

i bought my 2009 mini from car giant 9 months ago using a hp loan from moneybarn.

last week because of a faulty thermostat the engine blew and now the car is a right off.

ironic really as i chose to get a newish car from a large dealership becasue i was fed up of breaking down!

I cannot afford to pay 6k for a new engine and

i stil have 10k left in finance.

What are my options?

what do finance companies do in these cases,

id like to find out my options before contacting the finance company.

many thanks

Not sure I follow?

You have one car on finance, and got another one because the first kept breaking down?

How were you going to finance them both at the same time?

6k for a new engine? Where the hell did you get that quote from?

You can have someone do a rebuild for 7-800 quid...

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

hi,

i got a car on finance.

the engine blew after 9 months,

it cant be rebuilt.

its a 2009 mini cooper,

to replace it would cost in the region of 5 to 7k.

even if it ws 3-4k i still couldnt afford to do it.

for insurance purposes its a write off.

i wanted to know what my options were

you go back to car giant and get it fixed under

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1994/35/crossheading/provisions-relating-to-the-united-kingdom?view=plain

you also inform moneybarn too

are you SURE this IS an HP agreement

not a conditional sale or Bill of sale agreement too?

either way they are equally responsible to fix it

the only issue here is if you continued to drive it after the faulty thermo was found

an you cooked the engine thus warping the block?

its for you to get a report done

and prove otherwise

you'll get that cost back if you win too.

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...
