How do I take over a debt for my mother with Barclay card.

I called them to put the balance in my name so her name will be clear, but

they said they can't do it.

Is there something like restitution agreement I could use in this instance that would allow me to

have it in my name since she's not able to pay it and not really responsible for this debt?

You can't do this, your mother signed the agreement and is legally responsible for the account.

How is it you claim she is not responsible?

Restitution the act of restoring something??

Can you simply not make the contractual payments until the debt is cleared, if it is your wish to take responsibility ?

That can be done, but the account remains in the card holders name.

Hi Swing and welcome to CAG

The debt is in YM's name and will remain her responsibility until it is cleared.

If you can't afford to clear the balance in one go, then you could service the a/c to at least keep up the minimum pay'ts, but preferably pay as much as poss each month to clear the balance asap.

The other option would be to take a loan yourself, clear the a/c balance and pay of your own new loan as required.

:-)

We could do with some help from you
