I bought a pair of shoes in July from Clark's for £30. On sale from £60.

I tried to take them back today as they have worn excessively in the heel area. I have my receipt.

The manager said shoes only have a28 day guarantee and as a gesture of goodwill will only give me a£20 voucher towards a new pair of shoes.

I thought everything came with a years guarantee.

I also feel these shoes should not have worn so much in the heel area in only six months.

SOGA. shoes should last more than 6 months under normal conditions.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

If my advice helps you, click the star icon at the bottom of my post and feel free to say thanks

Could be more than 1 factor. Weight comes to mind.

So whats cooking today ?

Trouble is shoe manufacturers have always stuck to short guarantee periods, I remember decades ago there were always an issue with them, and thre customer always lost, another answer was shoes are dress shoes for occassions???? work that one out,

The goods must be of merchantable quality and fit for purpose. There is no specified time as to how long things are designed to last though but with large consumer items 3-5 years is normal. Shoes can wear out in 6 months if you wear them every day and if they have a raised heel they may well be done for sooner than that. You could ask SATRA if they have tested the shoe you are complaining about and then see what they say about it.

I would be well miffed if a pair of my shoes only lasted 6 months.. I would be downright angry if they only lasted a few days.

Were you told at the time of purchase that there was only a 28 day guarantee ? And is that 28 days supposed to be for the return period or the actual wearing period ?
