Hi folks.

Have just had this ridiculous offer from Barclaycard after 22 years of PPI on my Visa card.

The response letter was very ambiguous and part of it read like this.

"We do not always keep full records for more than 6 years and you opened your card some time ago. We have therefore estimated how much you were charged based on your more recent statements. We have taken the value of any PPI premiums you paid directly from your statements where available. If full records are not available we have looked at the earliest statement we hold and have estimated the amount you would have paid from the start date of your policy. "

Does this not sound all a bit muddled? Have they my records or not?

£875 seems ludicrously low for 22 years of PPI. Does anyone have a baseline figure that I should be expecting. Obviously I know that it depends on the balance of the card each month etc..but seriously?..what would you expect to receive?

many thanks,

Tim :)

sadly Barclaycard are know to use the last three statement they have and then base their retro calc on those.

they normally pick a time when the ppi was practically £0

nice try Barclays!!

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

yes, send a Subject Access request to them in the first instance, they have 40 calendar days to respond and it will cost you £10.00.

Do you have any statements of your own that you could refer to ?

Thanks for the replies peeps!

Irritatingly, I had a filing cabinet crammed with years of statements and then not that long ago I decided to have a clear out and burned the bloody lot!! ARrrggghhh!!:-x

I'll SAR them and see what gives. I imagine it'll have to go to the FOS which is a sheme as I really was hoping to get it sorted without being given any BS by them.

Still, I waited 22 years..I guess I can wait a bit longer still!
