Just cut my own hair!

I was planning a visit to the hair salon, as I have long thick curly hair that hasn't been cut in several years and has become unmanageable - not good with a disability.

 

then I came across this youtube video:

 

 

I decided to give it a go, not wanting to pay the £25 for a salon visit - AND IT WORKED! I now have a great layered cut, better than my last salon visit. Just wanted to share - I hate going to hairdressers and hate the cost, and now I never have to go again!!!

I'm a guy and I cut my own hair. Saves money and time too -- I hate waiting in the queue in the barber shop. And once you learn how to do it, you can style it exactly the way you want.

 

You'd be suprised, but it looks really well -- I get asked where I had it cut, 'cause it looks really good.

 

The key thing is to know how. It's actually remarkably easy if you know the principles. The best instructions I've ever found was in a manual to a hair clipper from Remington. Search google for the following keywords: "Remington HC365 User Manual pdf". Then go to the first link -- that will be the manual. In the manual, go to the "Instructions for Hair Cutting" section. Follow those instructions. The instructions are universal -- you don't have to use the Remington clipper to follow them. I'm actually using a Philips clipper.

I used to do it with clippers down to a no 4... I stopped doing that as it made me look too boyish. I did however find a barbers in a nearby town that only charges £3 for a mens but

Gillingham Go to the end of the hughstreet (I think that's it) on Market day just past the market. (pass by the market on the RIGHT hand side as you come from the station. You cross a road with a steel/chrome clad bar trying to look modern on the right, the market on the left, and it's the nest right (on that corner)....

I've been cutting my husband's hair with clippers that cost us £10 - saved us loads of money since we bought them about 6 years ago. Also, husband hates having to make chit chat with hairdressers/barbers (me too).

 

Already had several compliments about my cut - though when I said I did it myself, they wouldn't believe me. Also other women see going to the salon as a 'pamper event', and think I'm weird that I don't enjoy it.

i SO agee with the chitchat thing! I hate the inevitable 'smalltalk' at the hairdressers/barbers...

 

IN regards the 'pamper event thing' I use the barbers as my pamper event. THough it costs me peanuts to go, its a self boosting feeling

I don't go to barber's to have to pay a search fee to find my hair as with some of the above wife with pair of hair trimmers for nowt and no complaints from HWMBO as to time to get my hair cut she just gets the trimmers out and I say yes boss.

So well trained! My husband refuses for several weeks before eventually giving in and letting me cut it before he starts looking like a hobo.

Last time I did that she cut my hair and forgot to put the trimmer guide on result bald for 6 weeks not again it was bloody cold.

Last cut my own hair when aged about 7 or 8. Parents didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Growing up I used to wash it with "Wash and Go" and now it has. I stand outside the barbers and tell the kids going in "When I was your age" stories. Off to give the head a quick shine with the polish. Still got 3/4 of mouth full of teeth though.

Yep she just laughs at me when I say it's been 44 years of hell. She is 68 and wants to go to Disney World in America for our next anniversary, she's is nuts same as me, a pair together.

OMG that's amazing. I'm not sure I'd dare do it though. I can't believe how much better it looked.
