Although this doesnt affect me, I am taking an interest - I didnt realise that it only affected those living in 4 council areas until September.

I wonder why those 4 areas have been chosen for the Pilot scheme ?

Hopefully by then, it will be proved to be another disaster and it will be stopped.

From the 15 April, the Government will begin rolling out its benefit cap – a restriction on the amount that households can receive in state help.

It’s designed to stop homes where no one works receiving more in benefits than the average working household earns.

At first it will only affect claimants living in Bromley, Croydon, Enfield and Haringey, but then it will be introduced in all other councils by the end of September.

Most unemployed people of working age will be hit by the cap, which will be £500 a week for couples or single parents, and £350 a week for single adults living without any kids.

You won’t be affected by the cap if you receive certain benefits or credits, including Working Tax Credit and Disability Living Allowance (or the new Personal Independence Payment).

its like with the dla/pip, the new changes come into effect in parts of the country on 1st April, and other parts 10th June, live nr London and here a claimant can still apply for dla up to and including 9th June. Don't understand why its not the same in all areas, and with this benefit cap pilot scheme yes it makes me wonder why that particular area?. The only thing I find this govt good at is confusion.

or rather most wont be affected as they already get less than the cap. Nothing like misleading news stories that give the impression that people not working are swimming in cash.

Do worry. If the tory party get their way in the future there wont be any benefits. Already voluntary organisations and charitys are having to pick up where the government have stopped. This is why food banks and homeless centres are in high demand.

Oh and dont think your local authority will help you out with your cash flow and housing problems. Many councils are reducing social housing especially in affluent areas and handing out restictive food vouchers instead of much needed cash.

Mark my words, twenty years from now and many benefits will be gone. We are heading back to Serfdom Britain. London and many citiess are already being ghettoised.

Im a cheerful chappie aint I? Lol
