I was prompted to ask this question after reading some of the posts that include mention of the banks 'recording conversations for training purposes'.

Has anyone asked for AND recieved copies of the conversations or transcripts of them from the bank?

I am beginning to think that the banks dont actually record anything and just say so to scare you into being civil.

And just thought of another silly point. If the banks are using recordings of our voices for training purposes this would class as commercial gain, therefore we should be due a fee for use of our voices. Would be fun thinking of them reading THAT letter!!

Anyway, would like to hear from anyone who has recieved transcripts or copies of their converations.

Paul

I work in a RBS branch and we don't record phone calls in/out of the branch at present. But I have a mate who works in BOS corporate. All their phone calls are recorded and managers can also listen in on their conversations to "check up" on staff from time to time. Once when a customer disputed authorising something they just dug out the recording and played it back to him. Bottom line is some depts/banks record phone calls, some don't.

(Yes I work for a bank but am here to help! Please be nice to me! :))

i have asked for copies of tapes made during calls to be sent to my local branch of Halifax, i was told they cant send tapes but a senior manager would listen to the recording and if found 'appropriate' i would recieve a transcript through the post.

needless to say i haven't

Surely it is up to you wether you deem something to be "appropriate" and not the exclusive decision of a "senior manager" who will probably have selective hearing anyway?

If they have recordings of you then I think that you can request these recordings under the DPA. My mum got 14 recordings (on 1 CD) of times that she has spoken to the Tax Credits office under the DPA.
