Hi All

I have a payday loan with swift sterling and I was due to pay last month, I sent an email explaining I was not able to afford this as my tax credits have been stopped. I only receive 880 a month and they are expecting 920 on 31st December. I have 2 children and a mortgage to pay, I am in no position to pay this. I have emailed them requesting to make a payment of 50 a month and explained my circumstances, I was informed they do not take benefits in consideration. When I applied I included my benefits. Can someone please advise?

Can I also be pointed in the right direction to send them an email regarding telephones calls at work, I have asked them to rig my mobile and they never do. Thanks in advance

Cancel your debit card immediately -report it lost. Open a new account for your wages to get paid into.

just pay ss what you can afford by standing order only- for example 5 pound a month. Their sort code and account number are below. start paying on your next payday and ignore all calls. They will probably pass it on to clarity debt collectors but just keep paying small amounts directly to swift sterling. Ignore clarity calls as well. As long as you are paying something it won't escalate.

Account no: 00744802

sort code; 30-00-09

reference- important- your personal loan number- 8 digits long

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi,

I did the same thing and cancealled my debit card.

Prior to that I emailed there accounts department explaining the reason why I took out the loan and defaulting. I offered to repay the debt at £50 per month. I heard nothing from them after a week so sent them a letter and another email to confirm the accepted my offer.

Since then I have been getting rather abusive voicemails from Swift Sterling. I had to go into hospital at one stage due to my illness and my other half heard some of their messages. Some from a bloke saying ''It's no good to hid behind your phone and we reject your emails and letters. Talk to us now or else we will get the court involved" then went onto say "we want full payment and don't do installments".

This rather abusive bloke last voicemail ended with a range of swear words and have not heard from them since last week.

In the end they can't get blood out of a stone. :-)

If you had those messages on voicemail, you should have copied them and sent them to the OFT. That kind of treatment is enough to lose them their credit licence.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

Thanks for the advice. I should have a couple in my voicemail inbox so will do that shortly. After falling into debt due to redundancy and illness this is a new thing for me. Thanks for your help.

If you like, you could ask one of the admins if you would be able to send the recording to them. That way they can advise on the best way to form a complaint to the regulators. Especially if they are being extremely abusive and threatening over the phone.
