Yes, you can apply for a postponement if your representative is unavailable. The other option would be to instruct a barrister.

 

Thanks. Any idea how to do this?

 

Unfortunately for financial reasons i cannot afford a barrister and am using a representative from citizens advice.

Oh, I see.

 

You should ask your representative to make an application to the tribunal, the sooner the better. Our local ET asks for postponement applications to be submitted within 14 days of the notice of hearing being sent out, but that's not a hard and fast rule.

 

Barristers are costly - its usually at least £1,000 per day plus an initial brief fee of £500-1,000 so a postponement would be your best option.
