DPA letter sent recorded delivery. Response received about 20 days later saying that I would need to write to their 'Data Protection Officer' and enclosing £10. So I did. Recorded delivery again. Received a response yesterday from their 'data protection officer' saying that they didn't understand what I was asking for and could I please confirm. So I wrote back this morning clarifying my request and reminding them politely but firmly that they had 10 days left to respond under the DPA or I will go reporting them.

Will keep you posted.

Another letter received today which basically said they they are not oblidged to repeat the details/ statements in the form of a DP disclosure as I have had these in the form of monthly statements.

Letter written and will be posted tomorrow disagreeing with her take on my request - again!!!

All this from the Data Protection Officer as well! I'm thinking some training is in order...

Don't disagree, the longer you disagree, the more time they're gaining.

What you need to say is: You made clear DPA request on x date, (date of your FIRST letter), it is now x date, they have x days left to comply before you complain to IC. Don't engage in any form of discussion with them. If their "DPA officer" doesn't know the law, that's not your problem.

I have 2 letters gone to them 2 days ago, it will be interesting to see what response I get, whether the angle will be the same.

Thanks for that info. I wrote that before having read your comments. It is just so infurriating that they send letters contradicting the letter before which in turn is contradicting the one before, all which are sent on the same day.

Don't get me wrong, I am fully aware that they are stalling and trying to confuse me but grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
