Check your credit file and find out who owns the debt. Then SAR that company. If it is the OC that still holds the debt, then you can ignore everything the DCA says or writes.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

Righto, understood.

 

It is usual to send the SAR to the original creditor in order to obtain the most information, statements and other data. If the DCA has held the account for a long time then you might want to send them a separate SAR - they will only be able to provide you with data from the time they took over the account.

 

If this was PPI that was added monthly as a proportion of the outstanding balance. Then that would have stopped once it was passed on to the 3rd party so statements from them will be of no value for advancing your PPI claim. Similarly, if no charges have been added to the account whilst the DCA has had ownership, then there is little point sending the DCA a SAR..
