Hello all

Quick question x2

1/How much are you allowed to have in saveing when claming jsa income based?

2/If your under the allowed amount, When filling in the form to start a claim it will ask you about bank accounts and balances in said accounts. Do you have to tell them whay accounts you have and balcances even when you know your under the threshold

Many thanks

1) The limit is £6000. Savings less than this have no effect on your benefit. If you have between £6k and £16k your weekly payment will be reduced by £1 for every £250 in savings over £6k. If you have over £16k, you are not entitled to income based JSA.

2) Yes, you should declare accounts and balances even if your total is under £6k. You won't normally be asked to produce account statements if you've declared less than £5500.
