I only joined yesterday and I am completely new to forum groups on the internet.

I can not find any guidance as to how a member should post a subject effectively and/or reply using the word processing panel provided.

To me it just seems like loads and loads of lists of semi-related topics.

Is there a start point for posting something and if so where is it please?

Thanks..............

My general query is how to find some guidance on how this site works and how to find your way around it - loads of links to click on and loads of lists of topics, but much like a car, there must be some fundamental procedures and 'controls' that make it work effectively and easier to navigate - where does one start.

Secondarily, it is how to start to posting and using the reply commands (particularly the Quote function).

Lastly, I am trying to effectively post a Repossession Order query and I just clicked a link on an existing post and typed away - I have no idea where it is on the site, whether I have 'put it' in the correct category, if it can be easily seen by others or is it just hiding somewhere less obvious than it should be.

What is the subject of your query. When you post that I will guide you to the relevant forum.

No, I'll try again.

Thanks, I'll look at this link now.

I can't get the hang of this posting 'with quote' lark !?!?

It doesn't work for me and I know I'm doing something wrong but can't find out what.

I sometimes want to include a quote from what another member has replied.

Should be easy I know . . . . .

Actually the most helpful guide is the link to the youTube video on the bottom of your postings - 'How To Start Your Own Thread'. Thanks for your help.

I just need to find out how to quote parts and sentences from replies now.

A glossary and some guidance notes for this site would be helpful.

Cheers, Major Confused.

There are a couple of ways; either use the 'reply with quote function' as you have in your last post & delete the portions which are irrelevant, or copy & paste the text you are responding to. If you don't know how to copy & paste see http://www.webmasternow.com/copyandpaste.html

Start QUOTE='owdoUdo;3666352

Finish /QUOTE

When you quote someone, you will see the above enclosed in [ ] at the start and finish of their comment.

If you want to quote seperate parts, just copy and paste (highlight with a mouse) the relevant start and finish at the start and finish of the section you want to quote, not forgetting to to keep [ ]

Why is this so easy to do but do hard to explain... In my mind, I can just do it but with words no way lol...

Have a play around with it... You can't do any damage

Remember if you find anything I say helpful, please click the scales

That's brilliant, thanks.

This and the YouTube video 'A Dummies Guide . . . . . . cover most of what I wanted to know.

Couldn't the links to these guide be put in a more prominent position on the Home Page??

It's a real Catch 22 for a Newbie . . . . . . . "just navigate around the site until you see what you want" !?!

A 'How to Get Started on this Site' link would be most helpful and I suspect reasonably easy to set up [??].

Anyway, your guidance is most appreciated - Thanks !!!!

In the 'Welcome forum' there is a thread in there which guides you through the site.
