Help needed - AL Wright Pre-removal text msg - fake?

Hi,

 

I have received two text messages today and I need some advice. I do not know who they are from, what it is regarding or anything else.

The text reads:

FROM : PRE REMOVAL

 

Mr xxx, I am due to CALL at your address on 01/01/12 between 8am-9am. To STOP action call 01747593007 to make a token payment TODAY.

A L Wright.

Case I.D xxxx

 

I have googled A L Wright, pre removal and also the telephone number which comes to nothing and I also tried ringing the number but they never answer.

I am not daft, I don't think any debt collector or bailiff will be calling on new years day but it is quite worrying as I live at my wifes parents house and don't want them caught up in any of my problems. I don't have a great credit record and I do owe money but I am very confused about this. Any ideas please??

There are people chasing me for debt yes, and I am trying to sort myself out but not council tax or fines. I have just phoned again and a man answered and I think he said M C Collects or collections but I didn't speak I just put it down as I am worried.

If this lot are not from a court then they have no legal powers and can simply be told to go away and the police called if they refuse.

I would be honest with your wife's family (i know that could be risky) but even so will be more a surprise to them if anyone did knock.

Chances are no one will call anyway as they legally have to make an appointment with you.

Stay off the phone to them as well.

If they keep harassing you then report them to the OFT & trading standards.

Just remember that you don't have to let anyone in 1. it's

not your house, if there has been no court judgement,

no application for a warrant to enforce a judgement they

can do nothing.

I am paying them all but there is one from years ago that I think I didn't finish?

 

However, I moved house approx 4 months ago and so I don't know if anyone sent me to court and sent the paperwork to my old address but the ones I do have,

and that I know of, I am paying.

 

I also changed my phone number in the last 6 months and these messages have come to this number so it must be a recent one.

 

I don't know, my in laws do know we are in a mess, that's why they moved us in with them,

to help us get back on track but my father in law is very ill and I don't want them upsetting.

 

It's such a worry.

Hi dx, well it does exist,

 

I just plucked up the courage to ring it but now have forgotten half of what he said to me.

was quite sharp and said it is for a loan I took out and the balance outstanding is just over 500 pounds.

He said they have 3 addresses on file for me and that they will call at my families homes too.

 

So I got flustered, can't remember which loan company he says it is

but he did say that they will call today and a bailiff will call to collect.

 

He said there is nothing they can do unless I pay 150 odd pound over next few months starting now.

 

Still none the wiser but not sure if they are DCA or bailiffs.

 

If they just DCA they can do one, and accept a payment plan that I can afford but if they are bailiffs, that scares me.

Oh gosh I hope you are right dx lol, I'm going bald here! It's funny how we can't find any company info on them. M C Collect, look out for them. I will wait to see if anyone turns up demanding cash but I really hope they don't. Fair enough, if it's money I owe, I have every intention of paying it but I won't be bullied and frightened like this. Will keep you posted and thanks guys.

Make sure that's the last time that you ever ring them. By doing so you have marked yourself as someone who responds to baseless threats and they will now continue to harass you until they get bored. They have absolutely no right to threaten you with the removal of goods for a civil debt. If it was me, on that basis, I would completely ignore them until they behave in the proper way. If some bottom feeding muppet does turn up at your door, tell them to eff off and call the police if they continue to make a nuisance of themselves. Report this company to Trading Standards and the Office of Fair Trading for misrepresenting themselves.

Dx is right. Have a read of some posts on this section to familiarise yourself with how these companies operate. Ignore them, post back on here when they keep pestering you and you'll receive plenty of help.
