I've had a run in with Santander over the past few months because they took it upon themselves to mark my credit file with a financial association which did not exist, the result of which led to one of our favourite DCAs Lowells making numerous searches on my file.

Obviously this was a red rag to a bull, so I contacted Santander demanding that the association be removed. After being passed from pillar to post via numerous departments I was calmly told that they had every right to process this information as I had an a/c with them. The a/c in question was a savings a/c with Bradford & Bingley which isn't even noted on the file & has been dormant and in credit for over six years.

Well, in the end I made a complaint to the ICO mid 2010 and today finally received a decision... my complaint has been upheld & although Santander have got away with any form of censure it is not the end of the matter, I am going to invite their CEO Alfredo Saenz to comment but it appears I may have to wait because he has been barred from working as a banker for 3 months http://uk.reuters.com/article/2011/03/10/uk-santander-ceo-idUKTRE7292TT20110310 Alternatively I could contact one of his underlings to invite them to make compensation, either way I am willing to let a Judge decide. ;)
