Hi

Took out a secured loan with Norton Finance/ Endeavour Personal Finance 1n October 1996 for 6,500

PPI 780.00

APR 25.9%

monthly payments 206.40 for 60 months

Not sure if i paid it off early

Sent them usual letters asking for money back, and had same standard replies over 6 years etc, including exact same letter scottishbyrd got, now they have said its their final response.

Please can you help me work out how much they owe me?

Thanks

Emmtay

Hi

Not sure if this is a good or bad thing!

Spoken to Endeavour Personal Finance, and they are saying they have destroyed all my records as from 1996. I asked for proof of destruction, and details of what data destroyed etc, they say they cant provide this without agreement or account number. I cant find the agreement either, but have the printout from Norton, the broker, with there reference and all the details I posted above, dates, amounts etc. Spoke to FOS who said I would need to know underwriters details from 1996. Endeavour say they used several different ones, and would need my account/agreement number to know which one it was!

Do I have a leg to stand on? Help!

Really unsure now if I should carry on, any advise please?

Emmtay,

Personally I would submit a claim anyway and give them as much information as you possibly can ie name, address, previous addresses etc...

Sounds like they trying to pull the wool over youor eyes in a vain hope that you will give up.

Keep at them.

Been reading through loads of threads, and seems as if Landy was passed from pillar to post with Norton too! Are you about anywhere Landy? Could you let me know the outcome of your dealings with Norton, as seen some of your posts but can't find your thread for some reason?

Cheers

Emmtay

Hi Emmtay,

It's definitely worth persisting with this - FOS figures for the first half of 2010 show that 99% of claims against Norton were upheld in the consumer's favour!

Good Luck!

You're welcome Emmtay - as you will understand mine is at a sensitive stage at the mo so don't want to put too much on the forum, but my advice is to keep on at Norton and definitely pursue with the FOS. If they cannot investigate they should at least point you in the right direction. People are achieving success against Norton as my above post indicated - getting them to hand over the money takes some persuasion though!

Will keep everything crossed for you,

Just updating this thread!

It's now been with FOS for over 6 months, and they are trying to go after the insurers...which I think are Pinnacle?

How have you got on Landy? Any news?

Hi Emmtay,

Sorry, not been around much recently. Sorry to hear you are still not getting very far with this.

I did eventually get my PPI back from Norton, but it was a hell of a struggle, especially as it all happened around the time that the PPI Judicial Review was announced. However, it goes to show that success against them is possible if you persist!

Of course mine dated from much more recently than yours (and Pinnacle weren't my insurers btw) but hopefully with patience and persistence you will get there in the end!

Good Luck :-)

Hi Emmtay,

It went through the FOS but although both an adjudicator and an ombudsman found in my favour, Norton were reluctant to pay out - to the point where I believed I would have to enforce the ombudsman's (legally binding) decision through the courts. Fortunately it didn't come to this though and it was Norton themselves (not the underwriters) who paid up in full :-D

As I said I'm not around much here anymore, but will pop back from time to time to see how you are getting on and will keep my fingers crossed you don't have to wait too much longer.

Hi everyone, just bumping this one to see if anyone knows anything about the insurance underwriters for norton finance/Endeavour personal finance? They seem like real slippery snakes! Passing the book from pillar to post all the time!! There must be someone else who has history with similar case?!
