Hi every body..to cut the story short ..i have got £4000 worth debt , as detailed below, i was continuously ignoring all the letters from diffirent debt collection companies as i did't have the money to pay them and or any other way out, until i had call from the company called smmoth financial...they want me to start DMP with them and Spare £100 towords all my credits..i spoke to one of my creditor this morning and they agree to accept 155 as FFP orignally £ 310 but then received the call from smooths and the lady said don't pay any money and let us deal with the case i m totally CONFUSED. my questions are..

 

1 Shall i do myself or get the help for DMP?..(i downloaded all the letter temp from site)

2 My cards and HSBC account are around 5 yrs old and are sold to diff debt companies, could i still claim back the unfair charges etc...?

list of credits

 

1: Natwest Master Card £ 1089

2: Argos £283

3: Barkley's Visa £363.82

4: HSBC current ac £444.49

5: HSBC Master Card £486.59

6: Payday loan £500

Certainly a DMP is a good idea. Better to do your own if you can. try using Imoneymanager and see how you get on.

 

If you have a company offering you 50% FFS, then this sounds like a good way to start off. You should accept if you have the money.

Get it in writing, though. get everything in writing. Don't trust anything to phonecalls.

A debt management plan is a good way of helping clear your debts, and going through a company certainly takes away a lot of pressure of you having to sort it all yourself. However, ensure that Smooth Financial do not charge any fees for their services - many DMPs do, but there are companies out there that are free of charge.
