    • Hello,

On 15/1/24 booked appointment with Big Motoring World (BMW) to view a mini on 17/1/24 at 8pm at their Enfield dealership.

Car was dirty and test drive was two circuits of roundabout on entry to the showroom.  Was p/x my car and rushed by sales exec and a manager into buying the mini and a 3yr warranty that night, sale all wrapped up by 10pm.  They strongly advised me taking warranty out on car that age (2017) and confirmed it was honoured at over 500 UK registered garages.

The next day, 18/1/24 noticed amber engine warning light on dashboard , immediately phoned BMW aftercare team to ask for it to be investigated asap at nearest garage to me. After 15 mins on hold was told only their 5 service centres across the UK can deal with car issues with earliest date for inspection in March ! Said I’m not happy with that given what sales team advised or driving car. Told an amber warning light only advisory so to drive with caution and call back when light goes red.

I’m not happy to do this, drive the car or with the after care experience (a sign of further stresses to come) so want a refund and to return the car asap.

Please can you advise what I need to do today to get this done.

      Many thanks

    • We have finally managed to obtain the transcript of this case.

The judge's reasoning is very useful and will certainly be helpful in any other cases relating to third-party rights where the customer has contracted with the courier company by using a broker.
This is generally speaking the problem with using PackLink who are domiciled in Spain and very conveniently out of reach of the British justice system.

Frankly I don't think that is any accident.

One of the points that the judge made was that the customers contract with the broker specifically refers to the courier – and it is clear that the courier knows that they are acting for a third party. There is no need to name the third party. They just have to be recognisably part of a class of person – such as a sender or a recipient of the parcel.

Please note that a recent case against UPS failed on exactly the same issue with the judge held that the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 did not apply.

We will be getting that transcript very soon. We will look at it and we will understand how the judge made such catastrophic mistakes. It was a very poor judgement.
We will be recommending that people do include this adverse judgement in their bundle so that when they go to county court the judge will see both sides and see the arguments against this adverse judgement.
Also, we will be to demonstrate to the judge that we are fair-minded and that we don't mind bringing everything to the attention of the judge even if it is against our own interests.
      This is good ethical practice.

It would be very nice if the parcel delivery companies – including EVRi – practised this kind of thing as well.

HI peeps.

I like to watch DVD's on my big screen using my laptop. I currently use a VGA cable which is fine, but does not transfer the audio.

What cable do I need to transfer the audio? Or is there a cable that will do both?

Thanking you for your extremely quick replies:p.

My telly has an HDMI socket, but my laptop doesn't.

most tv's if they have a VGA they also have a 3.5 stereo i/p on the back too just look

then all you need is a 3.5 to 3.5 male lead

typically every TV/monitor gets one free

i bet you binned it?

if not they are cheap enough.

dx

Tried one of them dx, there is only one hole in the telly that it would fit in (even though there are alsorts of connectors). The hole had a picture of headphones by it, but when I plugged the lead in......Nothing. No noise at all.

There are loads of green black and red holes, but only one that will fit a jack connector like that.

Any tips?

It's a Sanyo model No:-

CE37LD81-B/UK

It has 2 x scarts

HDMI 1

HDMI 2

Tuner

Common Interface

Something that just says L + R but has red, white and yellow connectors

Sub Out L + R with Black, white and red connectors

SPDIF L + R with Black, white and red connectors (and then an arrow pointing to)

Y PB PR with Red, blue and green connectors.

if not its an HDMI converter to use your PC,

dx

Is that just a USB conector that has a HDMI conector on the other end?

I think I need the one with one thing on one end and 3 different colour things on the other end.

That seems about the cheapest.

I thought I may have been able to buy a small USB conector which you can plug a HDMI cable into.

Has your lappy got DVI output?

If so, this would be an OK cable to get :-

DVItoHDMI.jpg

(DVI to HDMI)

I only have one 15 pin output on my laptop, but I thought it was called AVG. That would have been ideal.

It's like this:-

VGA-GenderFF.gif

I use that to transfer the picture.

I think one of these will do it, as I have a HDMI cable. I think HDMI transfers the picture as well as the sound.

Only problem is. They are about £12.

Locotus, I've posted a picture in my previous post.

The F and M on the picture above look different than the picture itself?

And I don't have a Hi-Fi system.

I'm looking as usual for the cheapest option.

Thanks Locotus, but manual tells lies:confused:

Just triple checked, and the only hole that will fit a 3.5 jack is the one one the far left by the AV input with a picture of earphones under it.

Just zoomed right in as well, and although it definitely says that it is the same model on the manual. The layout of all them sockets is completely different than my telly. For instance, The VGA socket is in the middle, just to the left of the 2 HDMI sockets. In fact, the HDMI sockets are the only thing in the right place:confused:.

Locotus. That is exactly the back of my telly. So Martin and yourself are right. I need one of them other ones. Will look on ebay now as I think I have a couple of quid in my Paypal account. Shouldn't be much more than that.

Thanks Guys.

Cable arrived safe and sound today and works a treat. No more telling the kids to be quiet because we can't hear the computer while we are trying to watch a film.:D

Thanks Martin. You are a star (one of many on here).

One donation coming to CAG coffers as soon as I get paid.

Thanks again.
