dear members,

i am Indian national on UK work visa here, because of some recent changes in immigration rules my visa extension has been refused and i have to leave the country in 20 days time. i am happy to go back as i dont want to live illegally like most of people do and its not worth it as far as current economic conditions are concerned. i had 5 credit cards from different banks, i have cancelled 3 of them by paying the outstanding balance from my little savings. the other 2 have a balance of £750 and £1100 and interest and charges. i have nothing left to pay them and i m broke now just managed to buy a plane ticket.

will there be any problem if i just leave it and go back, i mean will they chase me for this amount. both were online applications about 3 yrs back cant remember if i signed any agreement as well. they dont know my overseas address or contact details . should i come up with some arrangement but as i said my intention is not running from a debt but seems to me circumstances have left me no other choice.

plz help i m in trouble.

thnx

Its unlikely that you will be chased in India.

If you havent got the money to repay the outstanding ones then not much can be done.

Theres lots of reciprocal arrangements with EU collection agents and tracing appears to be on the increase as more info is shared-but I would think India is not top of their list.

Out off curiosity why was your visa etension refused ?

Thanks Martin for your precious reply, UK border agency(Home Office) have recently introduced points based system last year in which applicant scores points on attributes like age, uk experience, education and earning etc i was short of 5 points because of my low income of about 26k which i happily accepted as i m not the one who will produce dodgy documents for visa extension like most of the people do who are desperate to live and work in UK.

thanks once again for your help.

Ok yes I am aware of the tier and points requirements. The rules continue to be strengthened because theres been so much abuse.

The points system came from the Canadian system.

I hope that you have enjoyed your stay and experiences in the UK.

India is a growing economy and perhaps your time here will benefit you back there.I wish you the best of luck in whatever you will be doing on your return.
