Hi there,

My girlfriend recently checked her credit record on Experian to find that its clear, other than not being on the electoral roll. She used to have an outstanding load from Natwest about 8 years ago but that appears to have dropped off.

She contacted her current back, the Co-Op, to enquire about getting upgraded to a current account. They told her yes and even asked her about getting an overdraft. However she called them back today to be told that this had been refused. In talking to the CSE he implied that even though her credit report is clear an old debt like the Natwest Bank loan can still leave a "mark" against her.

I think this is crap, and she's being turned down because she only earns ~600 a month. Is this the case?

Thanks, Chris

More likely that she isnt on the electoral register, that really does help and no one will lend you money with out that.
