HI,I have recently looked to cancel my Virgin subscription as I now have Sky+. As I increased my broadband to 10mg it has now said to me that I can not cancel it until a year after I upgraded it. I have had the contract for at least 18 months and feel this is unfair. Is ther anyway I can get out of paying for another year.ThanksStuart

ANY change to your services will result in a fresh minimum term. They will have advertised this as such, and sent you a letter telling you of this. Sky Plus isn't a BB service but a PVR, so I don't know why you feel there is conflict with your existing VM service. You can cancel your TV and hone services, leaving just the BB until the expiry date is reached.

You'll also find Sky do exactly the same thing.

As for 'doing a speed test' that is nonsense. They only promise 'up to' a set speed - and as has already been proven, there is nothing to bead cable delivered broadband - ADSL2+ is vastly inferior and had more contenrion issues, 20:1 instead of 10:1.

Sorry i am not suire what those aronyms mean. I actually am posting this on behalf of someone who has a learning disability so they may not have read the fine print. What does BB or PVR mean. Also the main reason he would like to cancel this package is he can not afford two packages. There are many other factors as to why he can not afford it but I do not need to go into here.

Thanks

BB Broadband

PVR Personal Video Recorder (the new VHS).

On the basis that he entered into an arrangement with a new supplier without ensuring he had discharges his liabilities to the first, means there is only one person to blame. Folk need to realise that when they enter into binding commitments, they MUST ensure their ability to cancel/change or otherwise modify their services is not fettered by terms they have previously agreed to.
