Hi, i have two ccj one for £2500 and the other for £4000, we are upto date with them but i am concerned about what happens if our house is sold do they just want the amount of the ccj or will there be many years interest added onto them and also are they for life?

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hi ann

Is there a charging order on your house? If not, they can't claim against your property for a CCJ order anyway.

The interest issue will depend on (a) what your original agreement stated & (b) what the court orders stated when you got the CCJs.

If the agreement didn't allow for interest application after judgment, it shouldn't have been given but the stat. rate (8%) may have been demanded by the claimant & (incorrectly) applied - regulated agreements are not subject to stat. interest.

Perhaps if you can post the judgments, you might get a more specific reponse (remove any personal details).

Any knowledge I possess or advice I proffer is based solely on my experiences in the University of Life. Please make your own assessment of legality, risks & costs before taking any action.

Hi,

I have just received my credit file and although i knew of 2 ccj's, i had another one given to me two years ago, which i knew nothing about because i no longer lived at that address (i did have a re-direction service) but the letter wasn't redirected!

I am really worried! i have been on a couple of websites, and one of them says that if i didn't live at that address at the time of the order then i can apply to have the ccj removed,! (obviously i will have to pay it first)

Has anyone else heard of this? ?

Does anyone know of anyone legal that i can ask without costing a fortune?
