10 years ground rent

Hi just recieved a bill for 10years ground rent and a nice little note at the bottom to say needs bringing upto date within 14days,i was quite angry as ive had no letters/phonecall within the 10years and now expect me to settle the outstanding rent within 14 days.

 

What are my options heard somewhere that after 6 years without communication u dont have to pay only upto 6 years?? if so what would i need to do and any links to some form of letter/form etc.

 

Really mad about this so any info would b great so i can sort soon as.

The ground rent on the lease will probably be a 10 year period usually paid in advance not arrears.

Spoke to someone about the above and should pay 30uid a year in two 15quid payments over 6month period,i told them i had not recieved out for 10years but they just said we had sent letters/bills out.

 

Surely if i had not contacted them to pay and with the amount of time which has passed they would have made more of an effort???

Well if it is for arrears the Statute of Limitations will kick in here which means they will only be able to claim for the last six years of the arrears.
