Hello there,

 

For the last 1.5 years I have stayed everywhere, at friends, families etc.

 

Now I am moving into a flatshare and the estate agents want to see a proof of current address...unfortunately I don't really have one.

 

I had a letter sent to my friend's place, but am not really living here and neither the landlord or the council know that I have stayed. Also my belongings are scattered at friends places.

 

It shouldn't really matter with the council as I have been in full time education, but what should I do about the address proof?

 

I've got family that can guarantee for me, would that be enough or will the estate agents simply go bonkers and decide to not let me move? That would also mean I loose a large holding deposit...

 

It's weird that as soon as you move off the radar you are almost a criminal!!!?

What the agent wants, as you probably know, is anything "official" with your address on it - driving licence, bank statement, utility bill, benefits, council tax. Are you on the electoral role anywhere? Where does your college/school/whatever have as your address? Are you registered with a doctor - where does your NHS card say you live? Do you have a building society account?

 

How old are you? I'm assuming you're quite young as you say you're been in full time education - but then again that's an assumption that could be rather wide of the mark - so apologies... If you are young I would have thought that it might be best if you use your parents address - most offspring don't pay bills whilst living at home.

 

If your family are guaranteeing for you then I don't see why it should be a problem with the estate agents. As I'm sure you know they want guarantees for people who don't pass the credit checks - and I'm assuming (apologies for assumption) that you may not pass the credit checks because you are not known to the CRAs.

Definitely won't pass the credit check as was overdrawn as well...however that issue was sorted rather quickly.

It just says on this form that, that I will need to provide proof of ID and address in order to be granted access to the new property.

 

ID isn't a problem but address is...

Fine, understand about the bank/credit check. But you haven't answered any of my questions.
