hiya

i have a current account with lloydstsb and today my partner has paid money into my account for me, as he does most weeks, the guy behind the counter gave my partner the balance of my account, which is overdrawn, he didnt know i had an overdraft and this has caused huge problems between us...

i rang the bank to complain and the girl i spoke to couldn't apologise enough but said all they could do was send me flowers as an apology.. i thanked her for that!!! having thought about this and becoming slightly annoyed with myself for not making more of a fuss, ive decided flowers dont even begin to repair the damage that has been done! but dont know what to do next..

any advice gratefully received...

thanks in advance

karen

This kind of gesture from Lloyds is inadequate. It also patronising. It is also sexist. Had yo been a amn, wold they have sent you flowers? They wouldn't have even sent you a bottle of whisky. This is an attempt to placate the little lady.

I think that it is worth a payment in compensation.

You could sue them in the County Court under the DPA or you could make a complaint to he Ombudsman.

Normally I don't recommend the Ombudsman but on this occasion it might be the best way to go. Start a formal complaint with the bank. If they don't offer you £150 tell them that you want a final decision and that you will go to the Ombudsman.

Don't bother with this if you aren't going to follow it through.

At the same time, complain about the flowers. It is quite clear that they should discuss remedies with you and not make stupid gestures on the assumption that no more will then be said.

Another instance of how out of touch the banks are their employees are.

Normally we say, don't blame the employees, they are only doing their job. However, here you have a poor quality decision taken by some thoughtless and inadequate employee.

I think that you should try and make sure that it comes back and bites them in the bum.
