Does any one have to hand a strongly worded letter or template to send to a credit card company to stop Continuous Authority Transactions.

I have a problem with egg in so far as when I cancel a subscription using the above they still let the payments go.

I have contacted the companies in question requesting accounts be closed

But they just seem to ignore me and take the money anyway.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who suffers with this and it may be worth

a template letter in the Library .

Just call them up and advise them that some of your other credit cards have been subject to internet abuse resulting in fraudulanet transactions.

They are quick to protect their money (though not yours) so they will be happy to cancell your cards as a precaution and issue you with new ones on a new account number.

They arrive in a few days so there's little inconvenience, and you get shiny new cards into the bargain.

All the continuous authorities on the account are cancelled (as they will advise you at the time) so you will need to set up new ones for any of those you wish to keep. This though is often easier than trying to get one cancelled.

I used similar technique, just said I lost the card and it was quickly replaced and no more continuous authorities  I never sign up for any continuous authorities now as frankly these large companies just can't be trusted!

Are you sure that worked!

Despite the CC companies using the excuse that the CCA is between you and the supplier, hence woithout their knowledge so they cannot stop it. They do operate a service 'for your convienience' that notifies suppliers of a change of CC details.

That was from BBC R4 Moneybox a few weeks back.
