Hey Guys

got a letter from RBS a week or so ago saying they had sold my debt to 1stCallCredit. As its over six years old, i ripped it up and threw it in the bin.

I have now got a letter from 1stcallcredit demanding payment. Again, as the debt is well over six maybe even seven years old I assume I am to ignore them even though at the bottom of the letter it says "Please do not ignore this letter."?

I'm guessing this is one of those companies that tries to pressure people into paying debt they have no legal obligation to pay?

Should I send them one of those letters in the templates, Statuate barred or something?

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi, STG.

If you've not acknowledged or made any payment towards the 'alleged' debt in over 6 years, I'd sent the Stat Barred letter, they can ask you to pay, but once you've told them you ain't gonna, that should be the end of the matter.

Have a look at this 'sticky'.......

Send the letter as advised, keep us posted, and if they contact you AFTER you have sent this letter, then the OFT say this....

Section 2.14 (b) -

continuing to press for payment after a debtor has stated that they

will not be paying a debt because it is statute barred could amount to

harassment contrary to section 40 (1) of the Administration of

Justice Act 1970.
