Hi,

I have been informed by the Vat office here that the mortgage company can not charge for vat on solicitors costs in a repossession hearing.

The reason being as they say is

if you pay fine, then the company put the invioce though the company accounts and then claim back the vat on it as well,

therefore they get paid twice!!!! and in our case it was some thing like £4,650. so the would be £9,000 plus in they pocket.

Does any one know the court court where this was ruled out on, it was on here some time ago and the judge rule the company could not charge vat.

any help???
