Microwave from Asda

Hi,

I bought a steel microwave from Asda 18 months ago. It's obviously now out of the 12 month warranty and it's just packed in on me.

Is it worth trying to get it fixed under Sale of goods act or would you say 18 months is a reasonable lifespan on an £80 microwave?

I'd say 2 years is reasonable for any microwave cooker

Dunno whats reasonable. Mines about 6 years old and besides the light gone it still works fine.

 

I would say either a repair or partial refund would be in order. Asda's CS dept is usually quite good in my experienc when they come up against someone who can pronounce SoGA and is adamant.

 

Write a nice letter in stating our disappointment (quoting s. 14 SoGA) - you should hopefully get an equally nice response.

I have found asda very helpful in cases such as this, you might well find they will replace it if you go to the customer service in store without any hassle.

They replaced our fryer the other day without even asking for a receipt.

I can only agree with what has already been said about Asda.

I have always found them to be very helpful and I find that if you approach them in a reasonable manner, they will respond in a reasonable manner.
