I've only been a customer for 14 months and they've taken £750 in charges off of me in that time, mainly for bounced direct debits.

Sent them a preliminary letter today, to get the ball rolling.:o

I have a few others in my sights too.

Great stuff - chances are you will get nada back from Nationwide before you start court action but when you do it'll appear back in your account pretty soon. If you haven't done already, set up another bank account as they are most likely going to close it.

** Nationwide - £1821.15-PAID IN FULL - Aug 06 **

** Halifax Mortgage -£390 - PAID IN FULL - Nov 06 **

Lloyds TSB - MCOL issued 09/03/07 - £2953 + costs - ON HOLD....

I have two other current accounts which I can transfer things over too, if needed.

Is closing the account standard practice with the Nationwide?

It does appear to be now - standard letter about obviously not operating in accordance with their terms and conditions. Small price to pay :)
