Hi all.

A freind of mine is in a bit of a pickle having been served notice that she has been made bankrupt.

The debt in question is some council tax from nearly a decade ago. At the time she was married and the debt and bankruptcy order are both in her previous name. She has since got divorce and remarried, on both occaisions informing everyone including the council of the chnge of name. She has lived continuously at the same address and has paid all council tax under both new names (the 800 quid owed was as a result of a cock up). The only contact she has had is someone from the council requesting she pay, which she duly sent a cheque off for, and then a process server turning up at the door with a letter saying she'd been made bankrupt.

From my understanding she should have had at least two statutory notices served before proceedings, and the bankruptcy order is against her old, old, name. Also she has tried to pay and is happy to pay.

Any advice on how she can appeal the judgement much appreciated.

Cheers

Andy.
