  1. .. I sent off a CCA request six months ago which has not been provided, the account is in dispute, i have been receiving 'arrears' letters since. My question is, would it help to send back the latest arrears letter with a "No contract. Return to sender" label, or sit on my hands? Thanks Pencil.
  2. Hi all, looking for a bit of advice if you dont mind - serves me right for trying to help someone! Last November, an acquaintance of mine was literally almost destitute. No job, no car and on the verge of eviction because of late payments by DWP towards his rent. He was offered a job but needed a car. I had a spare car so I loaned it to him while he got back on his feet and offered to sell it to him at a later date for £200 - car is worth about a grand. It was too late to stop the eviction but everything else worked out ok for him and subsequently he moved around my area between a couple of addresses. This morning I got a PCN from Dart Charge regarding a crossing he made over the Dartford Tunnel. Because it was a first offence, they said if I pay it within the 28 days period they would only charge me the £2.50 fee but if it happens again it will be £37.50 rising to £70 then rising further to £105 if not paid within certain time scales. Ive paid the £2.50. Now, I live in Yorkshire, as he did, but it now transpires that hes gone back to his family in London. Thanks for letting me know eh? I need to get my name off the logbook but I dont know any address for him - I would rather lose the car than have him run irresponsibly around London racking charges up as he may seem fit. It turns out that he owes money to a few people up here so that may be his reason for disappearing! (I know - hindsight is a wonderful thing!). Does anyone know how I can do this? I cant report it stolen because really it isnt - I did, after all, lend him the car. I know his name but not his address anymore. I dont fancy ringing the DVLA and asking for advice as all they will be interested in are any fines that could be imposed. So any advice? Thanks all.
  3. The types of fees taken shown here http://www.which.co.uk/campaigns/insurance-bank-card-fees/ It's made easy here to email your MP and get Mr Osborne to tackle the issue this Wednesday https://whichcouk.bsd.net/page/speakout/2014-11-mortgage-fees
  4. Hey everyone. Total noob here attempting to resolve some of our debts and looking for some advice.. . I've read some great success stories on here and some very valuable advise, which will no doubt help me towards being debt free so thanks for all the info that has been about. To start with I have the below debts I'd love to get rid of one way or another Barclays Overdraft - Wife's £1,500 Halifax Credit Card - Wife's £4,600 Virgin Credit Card - Mine £1,250 Natwest Overdraft - Mine £2,000 Natwest Loan - Mine £7,400 Natwest Credit Card - Mine £1,250 Total £18K I've also written down a budget planner and worked out how much I have left at the end of each month to pay the above creditors and im pretty much broke by the end of the month. .. well actually I am as i'm having to ask family/friends to help me get through the month. So i don't have any disposable income. The only thing is, I have never had a missed payment or defaulted or anything on any of my debts. T he problem is though I don't really have any money left and I can't ask family any more as they have leant me enough to pay off and close other debts so now im just left with these. I'm wondering which direction I can go.. I've been advised to go down the DMP route either via Stepchange/PayPlan or do my own DMP, which I don't mind. .. I'm even tempted to write to Virgin to see if they can write my debts off I just need some guidance on where to start and what I need to be doing... Any help much appreciated Thanks
  5. Hi, I first came to the UK in 2004 and was here till 2009. During my stay in d country I had a lot of credit agreements i.e bank loans, credit cards etc (as long as i remember about 12000 in bank loans and 4000-5000 in credit card). I left the country in early 2009 and could not pay my debts. I was away for a few years and came back in late 2011. Since i now have come to the UK i have been trying to lay low. then i started getting emails in march 2012 from collection agencies to pay back one of the debts i had. which I did. But still i have a lot of debts left. but i have been avoiding them. But it has always been at the back of my head that i need to do something about my debts but i have been avoiding them as i have been saving up money as me and my partner are trying to get a house which i know is not possible due to my credit history. And I have decided that i cant be living like this anymore. I want to tackle my debts i know it is a lot of money but i will have to do it for futures sake. I dont know where to start. I can start with getting my credit report but then i am scared that if i get the credit report done for with all d address from 2004 till present i will be inviting collection agencies to my doorstep. i am confused and scared. How can i go about tackling my debts which i dont know how much it is as have no clue who i owe to and how much i owe them. Please help.
  6. hi people.. im new here.. but i have regularly been around reading the info you spread and i am really pleased how a community can come together to help each other i wanted to know how i should tackle a particular problem im faced with.. im helping my best friend who has landed his self in a right old mess.. he has a number of debts,, 2 with car finance companies who subsequently repossessed the cars.. a couple of loan debts which have accumulated over the year.. and a few credit card overdrafts.. what would be the best way to tackle and resolve his debts? for example, would i start by sending them all a letter asking to have the unfair charges removed so i can have the true debt and then arrange for him to pay that? thank u in advance
  7. As part of his investigation into why British people are on average nearly three stone (24kg) heavier than 50 years ago, Jacques Peretti attempts to eat what is thought to be one of Britain's biggest fried breakfasts. A reflection of the rise in popularity of super-sizing food, Jester's diner in Great Yarmouth serves a breakfast that includes 8 eggs, 12 rashers of bacon, 12 sausages, potatoes, mushrooms, hash browns, black pudding, beans and 12 slices of bread. It is called the "Challenge Kidz Breakfast" because it weighs the same as a small child, around 9lbs. Link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18490459
