  1. Towards the end of April 2017, an agent working on behalf of Green Star Energy knocked at my elderly parents' door in order to sell their services and make them switch energy providers. My father, who answered the door, advised that he would be interested in finding out more and was advised that information would be sent to his address. This was the last he heard until he received a letter from his current energy provider EON around two weeks afterwards, advising his energy services would be moving to a new provider. He immediately called EON, as he didn't know who the purported new energy provider was! EON advised him that it was Pioneer, who after a bit of Googling we found out to be Green Star Energy. Unfortunately EON said they could not reverse this, as my parents had not requested to leave EON, and they advised they would have to speak to Green Star. My father then called Green Star who advised that if he wished to 'change his mind' he would need to pay a penalty of £50! Just to clarify again, he at no point requested to join them! I intervened and wrote to CEO, Joanne Thornton, on 8th May 2017 and was responded to by someone from the Customer Services department stating they couldn’t find my parents account under their name and address. And this is where this saga begins… I responded immediately with my parents’ meter serial number and a different Customers Services agent responded two days later with the following email: “I can see from the account that the supply did switch over to Green Star Energy on the 10/05/2017, we have raised an erroneous transfer for both the gas and electricity to be returned back to Eon. This process can take up to 12 weeks to complete fully, once completed it will be as if the supply never left Eon and no billing will come from Green Star Energy. I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused yourself and Mr & Mrs Fish and we will correct this as quickly as possible.” Problem resolved. Or not… After 12 weeks, EON still didn’t have the account back. In fact by October of 2017 the account was still with Green Star and one of their guys came round to read the meter! At the end of October I sent another email trying to ascertain what the hell was going on and based on their own timescales, we shouldn’t still be in this position – especially as my parents did not sign up to be with them! Five weeks later(!), I got this reply: “I am sorry to hear that you have been dissatisfied with the service that we have provided. Here at Green Star Energy we aim to deliver an excellent customer experience and we are always disappointed when we fall short of this ideal. I have attempted to contact you on 01/12/2017 in regards to your open complaint with Green Star Energy. I can confirm that the discussed account has finally be Erroneously Transferred Back to the previous supplier and the account is no longer active I apologies this has taken longer then expected, I hope this conformation constitutes as a resolution to your complaint.” So, according to Green Star, EON have the account again. Now bear in mind that in Green Star’s original email to me they stated that, “This process can take up to 12 weeks to complete fully, once completed it will be as if the supply never left Eon and no billing will come from Green Star Energy.”, imagine my parent’s surprise when a demand dropped on their mat, from Green Star, asking for payment of £650! No prior bill, nothing. I’ve reached the end of my tether with this company. Please can anyone help me as to what my options are to resolve this once and for all? My parents didn’t even sign up with this company! It’s appalling, and they are elderly and do not need this stress. Many thanks in advance!
  2. Hi all, Been sorting out a few defaults on my Experian credit report, and there is one that states: GOLD STAR FINANCE default date: xx/10/2011 I have not a clue who this is. Been to their website, never seen it before in my life. Does anyone have any idea who these are? I've also sent off a query to Experian, asking them who it is.
  3. I hope someone, anyone can help me Background motorcyclist in front of me losses control, drops bike in middle off the road, im behind him and go straight over the top of him, result, both bikes totalled, he had busted back, I had minor injuries. He admits total liability to Aviva (his insurers), my bike is 7 weeks old and cost 10k new, insurers offer me 7.5k.. in the meantime my loan bike from my insurance company goes bust, I get pulled by ANPR for no insurance, luckily because BLD have stickers all over the bike I get off with it, that is first issue against insurers...... Next, I believe as the first registered keeper pf a less than 12 month old bike I should have a new bike because of this non fault accident, I have claimed against my own company with a view that they will then claim on the third party, I am been told this is not how it works(by my insurance) at present the other rider who caused the crash has been paid out for his bike, but because mine is a new bike and I only got offered 7.5l and have refused the whole claim is in deadlock. The point I am making with my insurers is that they were quick enough to tell me when I took out the insurance that my bike was not covered while on my driveway ( I stated it would be in a garage) but they failed to inform me that my bike was not covered by a "new for old" policy... any help/advice on this would be real helpful, any questions please ask Thanks Steve

  5. Hi Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I recently applied for Life Insurance cover, but then decided I dont want/need it so I cancelled it. However, I received this email from them today..... I have recently received correspondence regarding the cancellation of your Life Insurance plans When you took out the Life Insurance you signed an agreement to stay with ourselves for a period of 24 months. As you have now cancelled your direct debit you are now in breach of contract. You are now liable for the full repayment of £192.00 If you would like to discuss payment options including wavering the full £192.00 for a monthly repayment option please contact the office today before 8pm. Failure to respond will result in Court Proceedings and Doorstep Collection commencing Thursday 5th December. Agents will have all call recordings & your signed agreement. I would like to bring your attention to your signed agreement. The signed agreement was electronically signed by yourself on the 26th October 2013 from e mail address The agreement clearly states that you agree to stay with ourselves for the agreement period of 24 months. Any cancellations within that period of time will result in you becoming liable for the full 24 months premium @ £8.00 Electronic signatures do not need to mimic your actual signature. It is an accepted legally binding way to confirm agreements online, without the need of a wet signature. I look forward to speaking with you soon Thanks Jenna McCabe I am just wondering where I stand here. Thanks in advance.

  7. Actor Herbert Lom, best known for playing Charles Dreyfus in the Pink Panther films, has died aged 95. The Czech-born, London-based actor starred opposite Peter Sellers in several films as Inspector Clouseau's irritable boss. Lom appeared in more than 100 films during his 60-year acting career, including such classics as The Ladykillers, Spartacus and El Cid. His family said he died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday. Lom also portrayed Napoleon Bonaparte on two occasions. One of them came in the 1956 screen adaptation of Tolstoy's War And Peace, also starring Audrey Hepburn and Henry Fonda. He first appeared as police chief Dreyfus in 1964's A Shot In The Dark, a character who became increasingly mentally unstable as a result of Clouseau's incompetence as the films went on. Lom was born Herbert Charles Angelo Kuchacevich ze Schluderpacheru in Prague in 1917, where he grew up and attended the city's university. Link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-19745910
  8. Hi Interesting article from the mail online re: Corrie star & B/R http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2148555/Bevs-bust-Corrie-barmaid-Liz-McDonald-bankrupt-broke.html The section relating to the interview she gave in March is perhaps a little poignant and probably strikes a chord with others who are suffering or going through similar problems with debt, bankruptcy etc I suppose a message out of all this is...don't suffer in silence, you are definitely not alone, get advice as soon as possible, there are solutions and help is out there (preferably free of course)
