  1. I did have a thread about this ages ago but I can't seem to find it! Am helping my brother with this claim they have offered a figure finally! BUT they are disputing the interest and say: We have reconstructed what the balance of your credit card would ahve been if PPI had not been without PPI, by removing any PPI premiums and interest or charges in respect of those premiums. Then goes on about 8% simple interest. As shown above interest at the rate of 8% simple is only applied when your credit card balance moves to a credit position once the PPI etc was removed. Now this is a big claim and the interest charged on this account was massive. Are they correct in what they are saying? I don't understand what the balance of the account has to do with anything?
  2. Ok so I found out I had PPI on an old BOS credit card. Sent them a lovely letter asking for it back etc and listed my reasons which were I was self-employed at the time of the card being taken out, had the means to cover my bills anyway and I did not want the PPI. They have sent me a letter saying they are not upholding my claim because they say I ticked the box for PPI and they apparently sent me info about PPI. They claim that they gave me info at the point of sale (which apparently was 'non contact' so I'm not sure how they could have done this) regarding the exclusions and limitations of the policy and that I was not affected by them. There were also no alternative policies available at the time of the policy being taken out. Therefore they don't find it to be missold. Is all lost?
  3. Have finally got my data after Sar-ing them and having to threaten them with a little court action after mucking me about. Totted everything up and did a little reading around on here. I've had a break from things due to getting married and that kind of took over my life for a while. But I am back to this with a renewed energy! So it would appear that Cap One have won a few cases in court recently regarding credit card charges and people claiming Compound interest. Now the Compound interest at the time of my CC was 34.9% (I actually can't believe I went for a CC with an APR of that but I think that shows my desperate position at the time!) I'd sooner not go to court especially if they have been winning recently so would I stand a better chance if I just asked for the 8% interest? My charges on their own come to around £700 so with the compound interest this makes it a couple of grand but obviously nothing if I lost!
  4. I SARed HSBC 35 days ago, on Saturday I got a letter saying they couldn't send me the info as I hadn't signed the letter (I had!!!) so I wrote a letter today asking them to scan and email me a copy of my letter as proof and pointing out they had cashed my cheque and they have 5 days left before my LBA. Anyway I am fairly convinced that I paid Cardholder Protection Insurance on this Credit Card but thought I would double check and phoned them. The lady I spoke to says I didn't pay any. She put me on hold and said she had checked with two other departments and I didn't pay it on this card. Now I'm convinced I did but have no statements. I did pay a lot of charges so will be after them for those no matter what but my question is: Do they ever [EDIT] to people about having paid PPI in the first place?
