  1. Hi, I hope i am in the right section. Basically a s172 has been issued for an alleged collision with a parked car causing damage to there wing mirror. It has the approx time, date, and road of the accident, as well as the words careless driving, fail to report a road traffic collision and fail to stop. It is possible I may have hit the car as i have a small dent in mine and the wing mirror cover on mine was missing (since repaired). I would like some advice regarding my next step. I will send the s172 back and notify my insurance company, but should i phone the police contact number on the s172 to try to clear this up? Would it be possible to contact the damaged cars driver and sort this out or should i just send the form back and wait for further correspondence from the police. I should point out that i assume my car was witnessed by someone who made a note of my reg. I am so worried right now i cant sleep or eat and some advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Advice Please My son was involved for a short period with a car pitch along at least 3 other people After much arguments and upsets between them they all went their own ways and the pitch no longer exists. My son received a notice to furnish details of a driver of a car that triggered a camera sent to my address where he does not live but has used in the past. He had no idea about the vehicle and had no knowledge of it and sent it back saying basically ' dont know ' Now he has a summons for failure to furnish details of driver within 28 days With the summons is a copy of a section 172 notice signed by someone we have never heard of saying he sold the car to the pitch before the offence. It does not name my son ...just the pitch and does not give the date of sale. can anyone advise what to do about this I will have to try to deal with it as son is abroad working at present My son has no idea what to do and neither do I
  3. Hope there is help here!! I received summons for failure to provide Driver information contrary to section s172 The Car is a Company car. However it can be seen from the proof they sent me that I did provide information that I was the Driver. When I rang the Police they explained that although I had provided the information that I was the Driver I had only done so in my capacity as a company representative. And I didn't as me personally in my private capacity!!! As perhaps you can understand I am somewhat confused as I clearly did provide the information. But I can also see that I didn't comply with their process. So faced with this I now need to get some advice as to whether I have or have not provided the information to the satisfaction of the law. Or am I just "guilty" of not jumping through the hoops? JPAP
