  1. I have had a degree of success with claims against Barclays Masterloan PPI. One of the accounts I submitted is still ongoing from April 2013, the first letter I received back said that they had been unable to find a PPI policy in my name so the complaint has not been upheld. However, if i can provide further information relating to this policy eg Policy number, document, your complaint will be re-opened. This letter is our final response to your complaint and we hope that you are satisfied with the outcome. Re-sent all the paperwork copy of credit agreement with the breakdown of the Premium Loan (PPI) shown clearly on it again. Various letters and telephone calls transpired (account numbers and their references not matching) up until 16.04.14 when i wrote again asking for an update. Received a letter 1st May 2014, wanting to reassure me that they were dealing with the complaint as quickly as possible. Called them on the 16.06.14 to see what the hold up was. I was told that the paperwork was in place and that they were just waiting a case handler, because of the back log of claims could be mid-July before it was looked at. Received a letter 24.07.14 (14 weeks later) which said that the evidence I have provided shows that PPI was not present on this account. I really was not happy about this, if there was something else that was not right then I would have accepted it, as I have said I have had claims upheld either side of this one. So I decided to call them and hopefully get a constructive reason why this had not been upheld. The arrogant individual on the telephone told me it was obviously something else I had took out and was not PPI (whatever else it was I have no idea), I explained about the other upheld claims, to which he said that I did not understand the banking industry, if I had a problem with that then I could contact the FOS. I have wrote a letter of complaint and asked them for more detailed explanation for the reason why an agreement with the PPI on it, somehow shows that PPI was not present on this account. If there is anything else I can do meantime then please let me know
  2. Hi, about 10 years ago the Mrs took out a Barclaycard Masterloan for £2000. We checked the old paperwork the other week, and noticed that they charged about £400 for PPI, then added interest to this £400 before the loan started. Back then she had a job where she got 12 months full pay for being on the sick, and her job was very secure, so there's no way she'd have asked for this PPI. So what reason should she put on her claim for for believing she was miss sold PPI?? Is this classed as front loading?? Keep hearing it mentioned, but no idea what it actually is.. Thanks
  3. I had two Barclays Masterloans going back to April 2003. The first one was consolidated into the second one in April 2004. I am fairly sure there was PPI on them both but no longer have paperwork. I can still see the second one on my credit report as it was closed on October 09. My main reason for the first 1 is that I was a postgrad student at the time and ppi would have been worthless. This was then rolled into the second loan when I had started work on a temporary contract. Two weeks ago I sent Barclays a letter to say I was preparing a complaint and to ask for confirmation of loan details. Received reply this morning with claim ref numbers and account numbers for both loans along with 2 FOS questionnaires to complete and return. However, there are no details of the loans and they said they can't retrieve details on the phone even though I now have account numbers. They can't even tell me for sure whether I had PPI although I am confident that they wouldn't have sent out the letter, account numbers and forms if I didn't - I may be wrong though? My first question is this - should I go ahead and submit the FOS forms now or SAR them to get as much detail as possible before submitting the complaint? Second question - has anyone managed to get details over the phone from Barclays - loan amounts, ppi amounts etc. and, if so, via which number? Many thanks.
  4. Put in a claim to Barclays for miss sell of PPI on a loan I took out in 2000, the loan was for £12k and the PPI was front loaded and was another £6033.00 my actual loan total was £18,033. I at the time had 12 months cover from work and was told by Masterloan that I had to take the PPI for the loan to be accepted, this was all done over the phone at the time. I sent in a claim to Barclays, hadnt heard and the 8 weeks was up so phoned them today and they say that my claim was rejected but they won't tell me what the letter they sent says and it hasnt arrived with me 2 weeks after they sent it. The loan went into a DMP in about 2004 but I had made 4 years full payments before it went into the DMP, I have paid it nearly all off within the DMP and there is about £900 left to pay. My question is how can they reject a £6k front loaded PPI claim ?, I have no idea what the grounds of rejection are as I havent got the letter and they wont tell me, what do I do now please ?
