Dear all, My situation is the following - I joined the LA Fitness at Bayswater branch in April 2013, thn on 19th of April I went to my home country Russia for the urgent surgery. after that I was told by my doctors here in Russia that I have to quit my job and move back to Russia for fully recovery and post-surgery therapy. I went to LA Fitness only 3 times in a period between 4th of April till 19th of April, but they charged me 52 pounds at the end of April as I provided them with DD(stupid bitch!!). After I resigned form my work, I cancelled all DD's, moved from the room I was renting and went back to Russia to live with my family and be supervised by the doctors. I was a totall full and never read my contract and I thought that if I cancelled my DD it was the straight sign of my further intention to cancel the membership. I received an email from ARC but of course I would never call them or LA or whatever as they do not have any info and I am not even in the country and not going to relocate bacl to London in future 2-3 years. Please, I see how people are helpful here, please can you provide me with any other advice as I think they were sending mail to my address in London, where I moved 4 months ago. What do you think? I wrote a letter about cancellation to the Head Office and email to all mamangers and CEO and all these emails I found on your forum. Dear all, do I need to be worry or just do not reply on all this email and threats from ARC or LAF? Thank you very much!!! Anna

Hi group, Total noob to this so apols if I make any ettiquette errors. So to be succinct - Ashbourne signed up to 12 month contract (£65 per month), stopped attending, quit the club and told them, then cancelled the DD, Ash then letter hounded me for increasing amounts. Ended up paying them £135 to close the account (2 months + admin fee) as they were threatening £500 and credit agency reporting etc! (was this the right thing to do or should I have called their bluff? Seems they have a lot of bullying claims against them) 2nd, I want to leave LA Fitness and join a gym closer to work but was told the contract runs out in July. They have recently written to me to say they are upping my DD by £4 pcm as they are refurbing the gym. What can I do to get out of this contract quickly and painlessly? I am not satisfied with the gym anymore and don't want to pay more for a service I do not feel is fitting. Any help much appreciated, Thanks

Hi there guys my name is Daniel and I would really like some advice on how I can cancel my LA fitness membership. First of all I have been reading posts regarding this issue alot of people have been very helpful and sympathetic. So here goes my story.. It was August 3 2011 and I walked into the LA fitness in Birmigham, and I got roped into joining for a full years membership where i stupidly agreed to because of my impulsive attitude (i regret it alot to be honest) The next day which was August 4 2011 I tried to cancel my membership via theyre membership services but failed I got told by the manager that he will inform the head office( i knew what the result was gonna be anyways). I then sent a request of cancellation letter on the same day. I got a reply today Aug 13 2011 stating that there is nothing they can do and they are advising me to ask a friend or family member to take over my contract. I heavily doubt this as it will take so much time and stress. Just to let you know that I have not even seen their facilities yet and I do feel really really really stupid about myself up until now. I guess I felt pressurized joining because of that crappy offer that apparently ended that day if i didnt sign up. I would be ever so grateful if you have any valuable advice for me. Many thanks Daniel
