  1. I have a flat above shops, a new takeaway has just opened downstairs, I have noticed that there is smoke coming from their filters at the back of the shop, the smoke is noticeable and smelly and comes into our kitchen and bathroom through the windows, we have to have the windows shut, tried to talk to them to no avail, it is a Caribbean jerk chicken takeaway, so we can smell the chicken as well as the grease and fat. Is there anything we can do, because when the good weather comes we will not be able to open our windows at the back, our kitchen, bathroom and bedroom will have no ventilation.
  2. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-36345768 It seems that the advice to eat low fat was wrong and could make your health worse. I have for awhile now, moved to eating standard fat products and not the low/reduced fat items. I have noticed that i have lost weight, when consuming about the same volume of food. The French are apparently much healthier and they have never been convinced of the low fat diet some have been recommending.
  3. A report by Citizen Advice found that people were tempted into free trials for slimming pills or similar health supplements, often by online pop-up adverts or across social media sites featuring celebrity endorsements. People thought they were simply giving their debit or credit card details to pay for the £5 postage and packing. But, if they’d read the extremely long small print, they would have discovered that they had signed up to a monthly subscription for these products unless they cancelled within a set period of time. What can you do to about it? Always read the terms and conditions of any agreement and be wary of any ‘free’ trials that ask for your debit or credit card details. If you do find yourself unwittingly signed up to a CPA the law says you can withdraw your consent and stop a future payment at any time up to the end of business on the day before the payment is due. You can do this by contacting your card issuer. Don’t be put off if they tell you to contact the retailer. It is your right to cancel with your card issuer, and in the case of subscription traps the companies involved are often based abroad and are hard to contact. https://blogs.citizensadvice.org.uk/blog/think-youre-getting-a-free-trial-fat-chance/ s...jpg"]

  5. I haven't been on here for some time - thought my debt problems were behind me but If anyone can offer some advice Id appreciate it. I will try and be concise, many years ago I was very much in debt. almost 50k. I was self employed and work was up and down, I robbed peter to pay Paul (many of you will understand this) the problem got worse until I decided to do something about it. I borrowed a substantial amount of money and set about contacting all of the creditors, All of whom were really born from Lloyds Bank - I negotiation settlements around 30-40 percent of the debts. All apart from a couple, which I only entered into because of Lloyds mailing lists - eg a AA credit card (through the post) and a loan - these two totalled around 6k - and I offered to settle with them back in 2009 like I successfully did with ALL of the other debts - it was a massive undertaking, huge suffering, which led to depression and dark times - something I have had problems with for years. They refused to settle and some years later I think reared there ugly head again, and I tried to settle again, not successfully. Id had all manner of phone calls, (changed number twice) many many many red letters, eventually to cut a long story short, 1st credit picked it up, in the last few months have attempted to get a summary judgement - I attended courts and the judge refused suggesting they had not given me the opportunity to file a proper defence. the judge suggested that there would certainly be a liability on my behalf for the debt (no costs were due but will be at the next junctre) I made an offer to settle outside of court with the firms solicitor - 30 percent of the debt - they refused, I handed the letter I wrote in 2009 to settle to show the solicitor my good intention of closure. I later rang a few days later and increased the offer two more times ( I dont have this money i would have to borrow it) they still refused to accept it. I have to file a defence tomorrow in between my very busy day and I want to know the best thing to go for.
  6. Hi guys..I'm 24 and so fat I weight 12.5 stones. i've tried diets, cutting chocs, fizzy drinks etc out my diet completely. Exercises everything and its all failed. I've started now thinking it's my form/technique when exercising and that i'm joining a gym. I've bought a few supplements from holland and barrett and once again cut out all choc/fizzy drinks from my diet. starting drinking or trying to drink i should say 8 glasses of water too a day. Now my diet consists of meats, fruit, activia, pasta sauces, pasta, (brown), brown bread, ham, veg- lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes. Eggs+ cheese. Mayo+ tuna. Is joining a gym the best thing for me to do? Its my belly mainly I want to lose but i've been to experts who say am kidding myself if i'll lose it in 6 months.
