  1. Hi! I'm new here so I apologise if I am posting in the wrong place. Long story short I have received a letter from Cabot advising that they are going to instruct a company called Resolvecall to call at my house and "put me back in touch with them". This is regarding a loan which was a CCJ but that dropped off 18 months ago. I have received nothing else regarding this debt I just realised there was a CCJ logged on my credit file. I was very ill and going through a difficult separation when this debt defaulted (originally Santander) and missed one payment. Despite me offering to catch up by paying £50 extra per month Santander refused and it has never been resolved from there. Do I ignore the letter in the hope they won't bother to send someone round? I have looked at all the other threads but am confused regarding CCJ's over 6 years old which weren't enforced during that 6 years. Thanks in advance!
  2. I have a charge order placed on my house by Bristol & Wessex Water for £1800. They recently sent me a letter stating that if I don't pay the full amount they will be taking legal action and apply for an order for sale. I then will be sent an order to vacate my property within 28 days. My house is owned outright with no mortgage and currently valued around £200K. I am living on a small private pension with no chance of paying back the debt. I went to the CAB who told me that I will end up homeless and living on the streets as there is no social housing available for single men. The Water company placed a CCJ on my credit record so it's impossible for me to borrow money to pay back the debt and keep my house. I could never understand why there were homeless people on the streets, but I do now. I will be joining them soon. What an idiot I was buying a house. If I had a council house I would have nothing to worry about and a safe roof over my head. I know a chap near here who lives in a housing association bungalow. He owes banks £73k and will not end up homeless. Comments welcome.
  3. Hello, Sorry that my question is a little basic but like most new people im having trouble getting my head around the rules. Plus i have terrible baby brain at the moment! After a long 6 years of repairing my credit history (which is now in the excellent category! ) I have just checked my equifax report, as i will shortly be needing to apply for a mortgage, to find out that I can still view old credit agreements including late payments and a default which stretch back past the 6 year limit. are equifax displaying this information on my credit checks and are they allowed to? should i be applying for them to remove it? Also does the six year limit date from the last acknowledgement of payment, or the default notice? i.e. if the last payment in relation to a debt was paid in July, the first non payment in August and the Default to a DC in Nov, when would it become written off?
  4. Hi all, I recently got hold of my credit report and was happy to see that it doesn't contain any old debts which are over 6 years old. However, I have a 2 year old mobile phone debt that has been passed to a DCA that I would like to pay off and that is showing on my report. The problem is the same agency is still chasing me for another debt even though I haven't contacted them for over 6 years (maybe 10) but this one does not show on my report. My questions are 1) if i pay the phone debt will they then be able to stick the other debt back on my credit report and / or pursue me for it? 2) will other DCAs also come out of the woodwork sniffing around for some cash? My main point here is that I'd like to get my credit rating back to good or at least normal (I'm less worried about threatening letters since the debt is well over 6 years old). Thank you!
