  1. BT claims it has 18 million UK customers, it charges £15.99 per month line rental. (Price increase from 4th Jan) Using those figures, it is bringing in £287,820,000 (two hundred eighty-seven million eight hundred twenty thousand) per month. Or £3,453,840,000 (three billion four hundred fifty-three million eight hundred forty thousand) per year. I've used BT, but they all charge around the same amount. What are we actually paying for ? If we rent a car, there is paintwork, engine wear and tyre wear to be taken care of plus servicing, but wires don't suffer from any of those things.
  2. i was a party planner and my earnings didnt really cover much slowly i slided down to the point where i wasnt making a penny for my time i packed up my whole kit (just over £250 worth) and sent it back via their choice of returns. They are now trying to claim i still owe £220.00! even though my kit should have covered it. with various tennis emails ive decided i will just repay what i supposedly owe and what not. i sent them an email yesterday saying i was willing to set up a payment plan of £5 a week, (£20 a month) and would like any interest or charges frozen so i can repay what i owe without digging deeper in debt. i have had this for a reply : Collections Team wrote: Good afternoon Hazel, Thank you for your email. Unfortunately we can only set a payment plan up of 3 months, and therefore we are unable to accept the payment of £5 a week. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us. can they actually do this? i replied asking how much it would be over 3months this is the reply : Good afternoon Hazel, That would be £73.98 for 2 months and £73.99 for the last month, we would need you to call us to make the first payment and to set up the payment plan. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us. can they only set up a payment plan over 3months? what is the difference to if i want to set it up over 6 months? ive replied to try and haggle it over 6 months any help here?!
  3. Just been on BBC1.Small piece on private parking tickets, regarding a disabled driver.Sums up the farce of PPCs/POPLA. BPAs Patrick Troy says his bit... should be on iplayer soon, last item.
  4. I got a slow puncture in a rear tyre on my Corsa and took it to KwikFit. They found a large nail in the middle of the tyre and took the tyre off to repair it. The guy then told me that the tyre could not be repaired because I had been driving it flat which I hadn't. He then quoted me £149 for a replacement tyre. The car has 10,000 miles on the clock so the tyre was almost as good as new with a full tread etc. I asked him to put the spare wheel on the car and to put the wheel and damaged tyre into the boot. I then drove round to Halfords Auto Centre who examined the tyre and told me that it was a perfectly good tyre and that it would cost £19 to repair.
  5. Prices are hiked by as much as 433%, according to a new survey Typical examples include charging £1.60p for a 30p can of coke Costs were compared to identical products sold in supermarkets Ryanair says customers are 'free to bring their own snacks' if they wish Read More ...
  6. My utility supplier Eon re introduced the standing charge along with an overall price hike at the beginning of the year, I viewed my latest bill online today and the standing charge is almost a quarter of the bill! Eon supply both gas and electricity and despite my best efforts to cut down on usage my bill the for last quarter is £122.84 for electricity and £72.90 for gas, £47.48 of the total is the standing charge. Money for nothing, if they must levy a standing charge then a nominal amount would be I suppose grudgingly acceptable but almost 25% of the bill? That's outrageous, like many I am on ESA WRAG and prices like this are forcing me into fuel poverty, £47.48 is the difference between managing to pay the bill (just) and struggling.
  7. Hi bought a C2 1.1SX on 10th Decmberfor a £1000, car developed faults on way home dealer said was going to sort next day when i rang him just broken promises all the time, 21st december car became totally un-usable, again contacted dealer and more promises. Trading standards are looking into legal issues as he states hes private seller,(but have proof hes selling loads loads cars on GumTree / Facebook) now he has said car was perfect when it left him and sold as seen. Sent the letter from Consumer website template saying i want complete refund within 14 days as its not fit for purpose as lasted no more than 20 miles before starting to fall to bits. deadline is today nothing from dealer. where do i go from here ? Car is parked up on road since 21st December, un drivable, tax runs out end month where do i stand here ? Many Thanks
  8. I am fuming .. Three years ago I had a Triton Safeguard t100 care shower fitted into my disabled sons wet room .. With the recent hot weather he came to turn the temperature handle, and it did not work .. I got an electrician to remove the front cover and check why ... a very small ( about as big as a five pence) plastic splined 'D' shaped plastic part had split .. he said contact Triton .. get the part and he will fit it.. So .. I have just phoned Triton .. "Oh sorry we cannot supply that part .. you will have to buy the complete valve for ........................ £109 ..!! ... or, you can book an engineer who will come out and fix the shower for £98 ...!! To me this diddy plastic part is a separate 'consumer' part .. it is not part of .. or physically fitted to the control lever .. or the valve .. Just a typical greedy supplier who think they have us consumers 'over a barrel'
  9. They have been caught in the act by a BBC sting. I think even those who have been spoofed in the past might be shocked at this. Your Money their Tricks
  10. I made a flight with ezjet. I had a suitcase with 20kg allowance, plus golf clubs. They sent me my ticket details etc. in an email, which I printed and took to the airport. The email showed the baggage allowance of 20kgs, plus a golf bag that I had paid extra for. When I got to the check-in the golf bag was overweight and I was forced to pay excess baggage of £70 for it. I later checked the small print on their site and indeed found the allowance for golf bag was 12kgs. I was over that and so was charged extra. My complaint is that the email they sent me made it very clear that my case allowance was 20kgs, but it gave no allowance indication for the golf bag. (Although as I said, on their web site you can eventually find that it says 12kgs.) The email seemed to imply that the golf bag was not subject to a weight limit, only that it should be a set of golf clubs. The travel bag for the golf clubs that I used was quite sturdy and heavy and put me well over this unknown to me 12kgs limit. Surely their email should have said 12kgs in it - especially since they had 20kgs in it nice and clearly for the suitcase? Or am I flogging a dead horse here? Any thoughts appreciated. Regards, Dave

  12. Following my inability to keep up with my council tax bills ,Harrow Council passed me unto Newlyn ,i received a letter from Newlyn stating that i owed them £997.50 and i reached an agreement with them to start paying off the debt by paying £200 monthly starting from December 2012.I started paying but could not keep up with the payment in February having paid just paid a little over £400 then because my wife was not working at the time and we just had a baby and that left me with the sole responsibility of taking care of all expenses. On the 20th of February i came back from work to find a letter from a Bailiff with Newlyn titled "Removal notice" and that i should pay £873.39 .He asked me to ring immediately which i did and was told that i have been charged £18.00 for a visit on the 11th and £42.89 for a visit on the 20th of February. He also charged me £235 for Attendance/Van visit on the same date.I told him i never received any letter on the 11th of February and i would have called them if i did receive any letter from them as is my custom.I asked them to check their records to see that i always rang them each time i receive a letter from them. But he called me a liar and said they have records to show that i was informed of their visit on the 20th which is entirely false. The truth is that they didnt send a letter to me as clamed but they are hellbent on ripping me off to the tune of £300:00 which is for their single visit on the 20th. I have fully paid £997:39 which is the original amount i was owing and i am disputing the £300 charge and the have been threatened with a visit my property if i dont pay the charge and that i will incur more charges. Please advise

  17. It would seem that the Swiss rails companies have taken up the UK method of making big money by ripping off customers. They must have been here and seen how it is being done and thought 'wow, lets put our machines out of order and then accuse the passenger of theft', we can pay big bonuses and have Christmas parties just like the British railways companies employees. More ...
  18. How sad and such a young age, thank you Martin for all you did to help other people:-(
  19. Don't fall for it, this new wonder drug to make you slim - garcinia cambogia - look it up and see the false claims. Go by what 'real' medical people tell you, there is no wonder drug to make you lose weight.
  20. This has obviously been deliberately designed into the car and not come about by accident. So do you still love French cars ?
  21. I cancelled my gym membership after a couple of months as I was made redundant am not working in the area (nor do I live nearby.) I gave a letter in at the desk and after about 7 weeks I cancelled my direct debit. They now want £70 as they say they need 2 months notice, and they say they have no record of this letter. (the staff are useless-the letters I have sent since then I have sent recorded and they still don't reply, they deny receiving them and they don't return calls.) I have enquired at other gyms and they seem to have a customer protection clause in their contracts that say if you lose your job, the contract can be cancelled. My old gym don't seem to have such a clause. I don't see why I should have to pay £70 because they lost my letter. They're threatening legal action, can they really do this?
  22. Hi Our village has an established garage (motor repairs) and in 2011 I took my car for MOT. Faild on some points but the main wa a new CAT and exhaust. All put right at great expense (CAT) I was not happy with the sound of it at all... compained and was told they fitted a cheapo! Later complained some more and they accepted it was at fault so they replaced. CAT and exhaust had a 1 yr warranty. So to keep the timeing clear: Original (faulty) fitted Jan 2011. Replaced Feb 2011. Took car for MOT in jan 2012 and it failed on the CAT, was told another £500 to replace. I remembered the replacement was still under warranty by one month. They dod not like it but they did replace it. So, last week a funny noise aooeared and today it's worse and the car juders under accelleration Etc. Call's into local garage (same) and was gleefully informed "Yeah... it's your exhaust mate... It's knackered" Well, I was fumeing a little and suddenly spurted "Oh, well that's ok then. As it's still under warranty" I pointed out it had only beed fitted for 11 months. Although they said they will lok at it Monday, do I have the right to a free repacement as whatever they are fitting are not lasting the 12 months. I have the feeling I'm out of luck ( Any advice would be great. Thanks Glyn
  23. Hi I have just received my latest BT telephone bill only to find that I have been billed from £21.00 for a call duration of less than 13 minutes made to the Directory Enquiries company 118118. I called requesting the telephone number for a local bank and the call to 118118 lasted no more than about a minute, however I did accept their offer to connect me (obviously a big mistake). I was at no time during this called told by the 118118 operator of the cost per minute for the connection. Is there anything I can do or anyone to complain to about these thieves. Thanks in anticipation of your replies Debbielou

  25. I've not been a BT customer for some time now but find I'm still stuck with the BT line rental rip off no matter which company I chose to supply my phone or broad band service. When I challenge them about this they say nothing to do with us its BT! Well I'm sick and tired of being taken for a ride and think the government should abolish this cash cow which BT just keeps on milking. To this end I have raised and e- petition requesting that line rental be abolished. please go and read the petition and if you agree sign it. You never know if we get enough people complaining they might actually do something about it. Thanks. follow the link for the petition. e-petition at: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/42514 Thanks
