  1. Hi. I had a debt with PayPal, I refuse to pay as I sent a tablet worth £500. I have told them flat out not paying it as this is fraud. This product was where the consumer picked the tablet up. They have put a dispute in and PayPal has put my balance into a negative position. Does anybody have any templates I can send iQor to tell them to go away legally.
  2. hi, dont know if this is the right place to post this but maybe someone can advise. I recently saw some thomas cook vouchers advertised on a website for sale. I am trying to save money on my holiday as we all are, so I made an offer to the seller which they accepted. She said she wanted payment through paypal as this was safer all round for both of us. So I duly sent the money, including extra to pay for special delivery signed for. She said the money was received and entered a tracking number to show they had been sent. On trying to track the item i realised it was not a valid tracking code. i contacted her asking her to send me the correct royal mail tracking code which is 13 digits. she said she would contact royal mail. initially she said royal mail could not trace it. I was insistent she send me the tracking number but she still did not, kept fobbing me off. I contacted paypal who have put a dispute on her acct. she now says the vouchers have been sent back to her address by royal mail. she still hasnt given me the tracking number so i can validate this. ive said why dont you just send the vouchers now, once i receive them i can call paypal and tell them the matter has been resolved. but no she wants to issue me a refund, then send the vouchers as she "trusts me" then when i receive them i can pay her again. its all a bit dodgy. my question is, paypal have told me if she does not provide a reciept, they will issue me a refund. but what if she has spent the money already, and there are no funds in her bank account? can they still take the money back off her, even if there are no funds in her account? I also wonder if I should contact the police, as her refusal to send me a tracking number is worrying, its an easy enough thing to do and i have asked several times!!
  3. I bought an item (item A) via eBay auction on 2nd September 2012 to upgrade one I already owned (item B which I was selling also by eBay auction to end on 9th September). The seller informed me that item A had been sent on 3rd September by 24 hour courier and should arrive on 4th or 5th September at the latest. By 6th September item A had not arrived.The seller contacted courier who said that it was at a depot about 30 miles away but when I phoned the depot, they informed me both by phone and e-mail that there was no record of the consignment nor any deliveries due for my address. On 9th September, the auction for my item B (which I was upgrading) ended and I shipped it on 10th September and was then without something I had been using daily up until that point. On 13th September, the seller agreed to refund me on the basis that item A appeared to have been lost and attempted to do so but needed to confirm their PayPal account and asked me to wait until they had received their confirmation deposits. This he had to do twice for some reason. Being assured that I was being refunded and in need of the item I placed a bid on and won another (item C) via eBay to replace mine (item B) as the one I had bought (item A) seemed by all accounts to be lost. The second item (item C) arrived on 15th September. As a safeguard because the seller's PayPal difficulties seemed a bit odd and because I did not want to end up with two items, I opened a case. On 17th September, after several attempts the seller issued a refund by PayPal which had a note on it stating that it was pending until 21st September. On 18th September (15 days after item A was sent - supposedly by 24 hour delivery), a courier arrived with a package which he asked me to sign for on a wrinkled scrap of plain paper which I did as I had been expecting another delivery. When I saw the box, I realised that it was the first item (item A) I bought which was believed lost. I informed the courier that the item should be returned. He said that reason it had not been delivered was that the paperwork had been lost. I informed the seller who was relieved that the item (item A) was being returned to them. They then told me that as they had sent it using a courier through their employer that they wanted me to deny any knowledge of the delivery should their employer phone. This didn't happen but I agreed to it anyway. On 21st September, instead of the payment clearing, the note said, 'Returned'. I spoke to PayPal who told me that this was because the seller's bank refused to release funds. When I informed seller, another refund was issued which said pending until 28th September but today, 28th September this payment has also been returned. I phoned PayPal who referred me to eBay and was told that if I escalated my case (which I have done) they would find against me because the item had arrived even though I had not accepted it despite the fact that the seller is on record as offering me a refund and that the refund has been initiated twice and that the item had been returned to them. I am now £105 down. But what I find additionally frustrating is that if I buy using PayPal, the money is taken from my account the next day whereas if I am being issued a refund it takes a week. But this cannot be right, surely?!
  4. I hope you can help me. I’ve been the victim of an ebay chargeback [problem] and normally I would have been able to resolve this through PayPal but they sent email correspondence to an email address I no longer had access to and therefore I missed their 14 day resolution period. I sold a Nintendo 3ds to someone who turned out to be a fraudulent buyer or someone who hacked into another persons account. I received the funds via paypal and sent the item. I then thought that was that until a few weeks later I received a message from my Dad saying paypal were trying to get in touch with me. I called them up and they informed me of a chargeback on the my account relating to the transaction mentioned above, and that my paypal account was in the minus figures by over 100 odd quid. I said I wish to dispute this because this was the first I’ve heard of it. They said the 14 day resolution period had expired and I hadn’t resolved in that time so I needed to pay up. I re-iterated that this was the first time I’d known about this and they informed me they had contacted via an email address I no longer had access to. The paypal representative informed me that it is paypals policy to contact you via your primary email address and that this is stated in their terms and conditions but I checked their terms and conditions and this is not stated at all. Does anybody have any experience of an issue like this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
  5. I (privately) sold 2 fairly large photo-copier sized printers on eBay and stupidly agreed to arrange for a courier to deliver them to the 2 buyers. The courier managed to get each machine to the wrong buyer and had to correct their mistake. The first I knew of this mistake was when the first buyer received the wrong machine and started making threats of a physical nature. After this, the machine that buyer initially received got to its intended recipient, the other buyer, apparently soaking wet. This buyer agreed to wait a few days until it was dry before attempting to use it. Next, the first buyer started arguing over the meaning of several, claiming it meant seven. He must have had the contact details for the second buyer from when the courier collected from him and told me he had contacted him. Next he claims that his machine is wet, despite signing for it as being in a satisfactory condition when the pallet reached him, thus nullifying the insurance. Then both buyers start throwing words like fraud etc around, claiming that I had deliberately shipped wet machines to them. The second one, by this time had his printer working but claimed that, as it didn't have full consumables, it wasn't in working condition so wasn't sold as described. He even suggested that common laser consumables were non-replaceable parts and ignored references to the manufacturers website and the printers manual showing them as consumables. By this time, both were messaging me stating that they were in collaboration and wanted to sue me. The second one became quite nasty and started making veiled threats about country court judgements, saying it would affect all the members of a household etc. Then he found some old electoral data for me and somehow seemed to decide that I was a child(!) and sent me some very strange, rambling messages, making me suspect that he was under the influence of some substance. e.g, something along the lines of "does mummy and daddy know about this, they soon will." and quite a few tasteless insults. This was the end of my communication with him. Meanwhile, the first one had started an eBay dispute requesting a full refund and for me to collect the machine from him after this... He flat out contradicted himself several times within the eBay dispute and made other threats against my person. He also showed some extracts of his correspondence with the other buyer, where-in the other buyer shared my not-ebay-obtained personal information with him. I asked eBay on several occasions via their live support service for help dealing with these buyers and the best advice(!) they could offer was for me to block messages from them. Not terribly helpful. I went through this "dispute" process which very obviously is intended for a refund to go to the buyer in any event. The buyer made several unsubstantiated statements which he refused to give evidence of, for example, initially telling me that he had attempted to call the courier and the courier had told him that they would only talk to me, then later claiming that he had talked to them and they had told him that I was a "difficult" customer(!) He gave a phone number for the courier to me which was quite different to the number for the local company I used. He also claimed to have been told by eBay on the phone that they couldn't make a decision on a dispute while it was in dispute but that he did have a valid claim... I put my case to eBay within the dispute but it was obvious that they ignored it when he messaged me again, saying that he had phoned eBay and they had decided in his favour on the phone and wanted my return address to send the item back to me. I phoned eBay and was eventually put through to an American woman who informed me that I should let him send it back to me now even though the dispute showed as open. She also said that the buyer wanted a refund and it was eBay policy to give a buyer a refund when requested. She wasn't interested in anything I had to say and basically said that they always choose to give the buyer a refund. I do have photographic evidence that the machines were working when I had them and should also have cctv evidence of their uplift by the courier. Paypal... When the dispute started, paypal gave my account a negative balance. I don't understand how this can be when no decision was supposed to have been made in the buyer's favour. Also, I had a $14.95 payment agreement with a hosting company on paypal. Paypal took £200+ to make up the shortfall on the negative balance via this payment agreement from my card while the dispute was still in progress. This shows as $14.95 on the transaction page but when you look at the transaction details, shows an unspecified payment for this amount between currency conversions... Thank you if you have managed to read this far! So, basically... I seem to have been defrauded by this buyer and god knows what I will get back from him if anything... eBay appears to have facilitated this and paypal seems to have helped them. They had no interest in my evidence or anything that I had to say and, as above, automatically give the buyer a refund when they open a "not-as-described" dispute. The dispute process appears to be a sham when they automatically put your paypal account into the negative to recover the refund funds when the process begins! I've had an awful lot of stress with this, not to mention many strange, threatening and abusive messages from both seemingly conspiring eBay members at all hours of the day and night. What do you think my options are now? I am in Scotland. Should I make a complaint about eBay/Paypal, look at suing them in Small Claims or..? --a bewildered eBay seller.
  6. Hi, if ANYONE could help me I would be so appreciative, thanks! Basically, about 5 Months ago I was selling virtual goods to a person that added me on the internet I sold around £1800 worth and had no problems with my PayPal as I had my Address verified, bank verified etc etc... Around 5 days ago I got a phone call from PayPal saying I have had my money chargedback and I was in a negative balance of -£1711, they asked me to pay on the phone to which I replied I do not have any money at the moment When I logged onto PayPal and check my e-mails supposedly I had not submitted proof within 10 days. But how could I when I didn't know a case was open?! Anyway what I wan't to know or have some help with do I owe them that money and what will happen if I do not pay?! Things you may need to know: - Have proof saying he is happy with the goods on Skype - He said to me can I have a refund my mum's credit card has got stolen (obviously stole his mum's cc) - My address etc is verified on PayPal Any additional information you may need to know, please ask I need help so much, thanks!!
  7. Hi guys, this is my first post. But i have recently just recieved a letter from iqor demanding i pay them money as paypal personal have passed on my debt with instructions to recover this debt. This is taking the **** as i owe them nothing, first of all i have not even recieved a phone call only a letter from iqor. Secondly my paypal account had been hacked i told paypal this, somebody had $250 transferred to my paypal account then sent it elsewhere, are paypal retarded ? I told them you have access to this other account to and simply take it back from there, but i got no response just numerous emails to repay it WTF ?. Now i have a letter from iqor, should i send them the CCA letter or what else can i do? please help
  8. Dear All, I became the victim of a fast-growing fraud last weekend, a con which I believe needs highlighting to the wider public, and in big style too. I was forced to sell my main computer, an iMac originally bought new 4 years ago. For ease of use (and because of the good experiences I'd made with them until now) I chose to put the computer up for sale on eBay, both as an auction and a 'Buy It Now' option. As you know all Apple products generally have a high resale value; I was hoping to get at least £400-500 for it, so I set the Buy It Now price at £525. Less than 2 days into the auction, the item was snapped up by a buyer with an (admittedly) very low number of transactions, but 100% positive feedback -- still the only thing to go by when checking for a buyer's/seller's integrity on eBay. After his initial contact asking for my phone number, I received a call on Friday night as to whether I would agree to the Mac being collected. I was okay with this, however, telling him in which case only cash would be acceptable -- for two reasons: 1) PayPal transactions can be reversed, a procedure they call 'Chargeback'; and 2) PayPal only provides for seller protection if items are shipped by tracked courier. The next morning, and contrary to our agreement, I received a payment for the full amount via PayPal. Less than five minutes later, a lackey (presumably the buyer's mate) rings the doorbell and asks if the Mac is ready for collection. In my naivety (and in the spur of the moment) I agreed to the hand-over of goods, in good faith that this was a bona-fide transaction. What else is one to do within 5 minutes? The lackey makes off with my Mac -- no receipt, no signature, no CCTV, no witnesses, and I could still kick myself for not following him to his car to take the registration -- and less than 12 hours later I received an email by PayPal informing me that the transaction had been reversed due to 'unauthorised use' of the buyer's PayPal account (which, incidentally, was not in the name of the buyer, as I found out later through checking electoral roll records). As one can imagine, the buyer now does not respond to any of my messages (the phone number used is disconnected; presumably a pay-as-you-go SIM card bought solely for this purpose). Needless to say, I feel absolutely shattered and like a complete idiot. On following this up with the fraud department at PayPal, I was told in no uncertain terms that I can kiss my iMac bye-bye and that "this wouldn't have happened if I had abided by their safety protection" (i.e. shipped the computer). I have now reported this crime (as I believe this is exactly what it is) to the police, although they will in all probability not follow this up since it is a civil law matter, and the chances of a successful prosecution of the fraudster are pretty slim. What's more, the name and address of the PayPal account the buyer used (or abused) do not match with electoral roll records, which makes me believe that the whole 'unauthorised use' claim is poppycock anyway. Quite apart from that: I may be old-fashioned, but it is the PayPal account holder's responsibility to prevent unauthorised access to their account: their email address is analogous to a credit card; their login password to a PIN. Now, my main gripe -- and the real issue here -- is not so much with the conman (nor his lackey, who may be completely oblivious to the fraud, nor the allegedly-'hacked-into' PayPal account holder), but with eBay themselves, who insist that PayPal be offered as a payment method even for collection items, at the same time PayPal flatly denying all responsibility to the seller (i.e. me) in case there is a dispute, and only siding with the buyer, fraudulent or not. This is in addition to the fact that they are one-and-the-same company. In other words I, as a seller, am not allowed to state 'cash only' on collection (I will get penalised for this), but am not protected by PayPal (which is being touted as a 'safe' payment method in the same breath). I don't believe that PayPal should be allowed to weasel out of their responsibility, because with their opaque terms, conditions and requirements they are effectively facilitating criminal actions such as this. The issue was already highlighted by the Guardian consumer protection section (guardian.co.uk/money/2012/jan/27/is-paypal-safe-protection) a couple of months ago, but I feel it needs to be brought out again so that eBay/PayPal will be pressured into a change of their T's&C's, and into acknowledging at least partial responsibility. I believe there have been a great deal of people recently who were stung really badly in the same manner, and a great many call-to-action groups sprouting against PayPal's more questionable techniques online. Lastly, ever since PayPal has located their headquarters away from the UK (they are now based in Luxembourg) I wonder whether they are still bound by FSA rules (they used to be); if not, their status of a de-facto 'bank' should be brought into question, and maybe relegated to a simple money-wiring network, in which case they are no more secure than Western Union, Moneygram et. al., the very companies that they accuse of being 'dangerous'. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is it worth pursuing the matter through the courts? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and please forward to as many people as you know, because this type of fraud needs to be stopped. Thanks, Jay
  9. Hi, Just before Xmas I sold 2 x brand new iPads on ebay. A week or so after selling them both one of the people that brought one claims it isnt the model I said it was and wants a refund. This was complete rubbish they were both the same, the other person didnt complain. Eventually the case was resolved and he was granted a full refund, however I had already taken all my money out of paypal after hearing about them freezing your money etc. So Paypal have refunded him and are now saying I owe them the money. Surely not?? I couldnt sell the iPad for half as much as I did originally because it was no longer brand new, the guy had unwrapped it and set it up etc. Now I am getting letters from GBP solicitors claiming that I need to have to pay or a CCJ will be issued, please help!
  10. Over the years I've read all of the standard Paypal horror stories and never believed it would happen to me as I've always followed the rules...wrong! A few years ago, my husband joined a government scheme where he was helped to set up an internet business. It didn't pan out as the market was too competitive. This has left us with a fair bit of stock, i.e. new DVD's, games, music CD's, books and other bits and bobs, so I decided to set up a temporary store to sell this stuff very cheaply just to get rid of them, along with a few car boot sales etc. It's only been up for a few weeks, and is not even live as yet as I'm still adding stuff to it. However, I phoned their support line and spoke to a very nice man called Steve. He informed me that no-one had actually visited my store but it had been 'flagged by the system'. What??? I spoke to a very unhelpful lady (I forgot to ask her name!) who told me she didn't know anything, but that my eBay store had been flagged as high risk. I tried to tell her I don't have an eBay store, but she kept interrupting and telling me I have! I eventually managed to shout over her to explain it was my own store. Once she understood that, she said there was nothing she could do as my store had been flagged and my account limitation was permanent. When I asked to speak to a supervisor she refused. She also told me that Paypal would never tell me which items supposedly violated their terms. When I asked her if this was fair, as I should have a chance to defend myself, she said that it wasn't a matter of what was fair or not. Charming! The fact that I've been a faithful Paypal customer for years with a good record seemed to cut no ice at all. They are holding on to my money and won't release it. Surely it's wrong to accuse a customer of wrongdoing without even giving them a chance to appeal or defend the accusation? I've also written to them asking which items in particular they are concerned about, but just received the canned rubbish instead of a personal reply. I know of a woman who successfully sued Paypal in a British court, and I was wondering what my legal stand would be regarding this problem? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Item purchased on 3rd May by debit card, using PayPal Payment transferred on 4th May advised by email 13th May I discovered that the company wasnt actually trading at that time and would not be open for business for up to 3 months. Company agreed to refund the payment. Today - email from PayPal advised that the refund had been made and to quote.. "Funds are now available to spend". Check bank account to confirm that monies have been refunded - Nope Check PayPal balance to see if refund has been made - Nope Spend a useless half hour attempting to convince "Louise" the automated help unit on PayPal what the problem is. Finally get to the point where she admits defeat and suggests that I phone PayPal 5 minutes talking to robot - then offered a human being. It would appear that the refund was made by the trader on the 15th May - by Cheque to PayPal Who then have to cash the cheque via their bank - which takes 5 days. They then have to transfer the money to my Debit Card - which can take up to a further 30 days.. Why !! It took just 1 day for them to transfer funds to the trader in the first place!!!
  12. Hi guys, I hope someone can read my story and help me out a bit with this A couple months ago I sold my computer on eBay to someone with a good, trusty account with great feedback. He paid using PayPal (at which point I transferred the money to my bank account) and he collected the PC later that day. Right after he leaves my house, I get an email from PayPal saying the transaction had been reversed because of suspicious activity. The guy was gone. Later that day I found that my PP account had been limited and I was on negative -£1500 (the price of the computer). When I called PayPal that day, they advised I should contact the police, which I did (and got a crime reference #), but that I now owned the money to them. Oh, and the 'real' ebay member messaged me saying his account had been hacked. A few days later PP started calling me but never picked up the phone myself so they never spoke with me. I also received emails from them asking me to put money on my account, I never replied. A month later I received a letter from EOS saying I had to pay the same amount. Yesterday they called me asking me to confirm my identity bla blah, to which I only confirmed my first name. They said I would receive another letter soon, or so I understood, though I hung up while the guy was still talking. I have read these forums for a LONG time and have almost decided to send EOS a letter I found on another thread. I genuinely feel I do not owe money to anyone, obviously, as I have always acted on good will. Even though I understand that they are not a bank, I'm a bit scared that they will eventually get damage my credit score. Can this happen? Can they actually prove the debt? Should I send them a letter or just ignore them? Thank you so much for reading this!! I appreciate any advice you have on this. micguy.

Basically, I sold a mobile phone on eBay via a 2nd chance buy it now to one of the highest bidders, this person agreed to pay for the item and completed all the check out details etc. in line with eBay procedures and promptly paid for the item via Papal. The buyer emailed me to confirm that payment has been made and upon checking my account and confirming the funds were indeed there and legit I decided to post the phone via special delivery as it gave me a signature proof. That was on the 4th April, the next day Paypal put a hold on the funds as they are saying that the buyer has flagged the transaction as not being authorised, I have spoken to paypal and even sent them a screen dump of the royal mail tracking site clearly showing the item as being delivered, signed for and the person who purchased it even printed their name as well as there was no room for doubt yet they don't seem to be doing anything for me. The buyer was based in the UK, his paypal postage address was fully verified and the item was posted to the same address. Where do I stand with pay pal as they don't want to tell me anything and just tell me to wait for 30 days until they have conducted their review leaving me without the goods I sold of the money... Help!
  14. Hi there, I'm hoping someone can help because I'm at my wits end. I have a verified business account with Paypal and have never had any problems before now. Suddenly, I am faced with a problem withdrawing funds I have received in Paypal to my bank account. Basically, I requested a withdrawal last Thursday 1 Sept and it should have cleared into my account on Monday. It's now Friday - 9 days later (and 7 working days) and still no sign of the payment. Paypal are refusing to do anything about it but my bank has advised that there is absolutely nothing they can do because it is down to Paypal as the originator to put a trace on the payment. Paypal are refusing to do a trace saying not enough time has passed. In the meantime, I have money going out and am out of pocket where I have paid to ship items to customer but have not received the money they paid to me. What can I do? Does anyone else have any experience of this?
  15. Hello, I recently purchased some ink cartridges on eBay. They were listed as a 'new and unused item' with the details explaining that they had been purchased in error so 'open pack' but 'cartridges still sealed in pack'. The ink cartridges arrived and each had been used, or at least inserted into a printer enough that each seal/nozzle was pierced. The cartridges were not sealed. There was even ink on the outside of the packaging! Each cartridge had been removed from its sealed vacuum pack and had been Sellotaped back into a plastic bag. Each cartidge was missing the plastic tape that you pull off to insert, too. I sent a message to the seller and received no response at all. I raised a dispute with PayPal and they have said that the items were 'as described' and have sided with the seller. Even though the listing states that the items are 'new and unused'. PayPal won't accept photographs as evidence which seems like the key part?! I took photos straight away when the cartridges arrived showing the pierced nozzles. It all just seems ridiculous. We have received a useless item. Any help or advice would be great! Thanks, Helen
  16. Hi everybody, I hope this is the correct forum to put this in: I bought a PC from somebody on Ebay about a month ago, for £80.00, and paid them by PayPal. The PC arrived and is working fine, however, I had just changed banks and forgotten to update my PayPal account with my new bank's information, and the PayPal payment I had sent to the seller had been refused by PayPal, as the bank transfer from my bank to my PayPal account had failed, as it was trying to take money from my old bank account, not my new one. Both I and the seller received e-mails to this effect, and I contacted them to tell them that I would pay the necessary money into my PayPal account, from my new bank account, and set this up, but told them that it would take up to seven days to get to my PayPal account, according to PayPal. The seller then said that he desperately needed the money as his PayPal account was now down by £80.00 as the payment that had gone in, had then been frozen by PayPal, and removed temporarily from his account. I said that I would pay him by bank transfer, if he would refund the PayPal payment as soon as it went into his account, which he agreed to do. The bank transfer went into his bank account on the same day, and he then says that he paid the bank transfer into his PayPal account, as he had had a balance of -£80.00, due to the frozen payment. He claims that his account balance was £80.00, but changed to -£80.00 when the payment was frozen. Obviously this is incorrect, as it should have gone down to zero, not -£80.00. I telephone PayPal to find out whether my payment had actually left my PayPal account and gone into his account, because according to my PayPal statement, it definitely had. They confirmed this for me, three times (three separate long phone calls), that the payment had gone from my account into the seller's. I contacted the seller again and told him this, and asked him to refund my Paypal payment as agreed. He insisted that the money hadn't gone into his account, and that his account had gone from £80.00 to -£80.00, and that he couldn't refund the money as he 'didn't have it' in his PayPal account. This has been going on for five weeks. I am under the impression that the seller doesn't actually understand what he is looking at on his PayPal statements, going by what he has said to me, and also by the questions I ask, which he ignores and never answers. I have finally had enough and told him that I am going to have to take him to the small claims court. I have asked him about five times to simply telephone PayPal and ask them to verify that my payment has gone into his account, but every time I ask this, he just ignores it and replies about something else. Bearing in mind that this has already cost me about £10 in phone bills, and will now waste a huge amount of my time, plus that of the small claims court, is there a better way for me to resolve this? The seller claims that he has a 'legal team' (which I strongly doubt) and has been saying for the past month that he will get his alleged 'legal team' to 'sort things out with PayPal', which he hasn't done in the slightest. I have asked him to get his 'legal team' to contact me, so I can ask them to look at his PayPal statement, as I am sure the payment will clearly be on there. He now says that 'since this is a legal matter' he can no longer communicate with me, and will leave it up to his 'legal team'. Is it possible for me to claim compensation for wasted time, as the seller clearly has refused to do even the most basic thing, to sort this out? (i.e. he won't telephone PayPal and ask them to confirm that the payment has reached him, and he won't send me a redacted screenshot of his PayPal statement, even though I've sent him one of mine, for the payments and time period concerned). I am at my wit's end over this, such a huge waste of time because I did a favour for somebody by paying them the bank transfer, to try to help them out.
  17. Hi there,I'm really hoping i can get some advice. I ordered 2 items of clothing from an online store (not ebay) on the 1st June. I received only 1 item however on the 8th June and when i went to try on the item i noticed it was damaged. I therefore did not try on the item (it had a 1cm hold and was very dirty as if the fabric had been rubbed until it had worn away). As per the website instructions i emailed the company and notified them of the damaged item and also that i had not recieved the second item as ordered. I also tried to call the company but every time i have tried there has been no answer. I received an email form the company on 10th June requesting that i return the damaged item and that their data says both items were posted out but that they would investigate the matter. I returned the item at MY expense on the 11th June and the item was signed for by the company on 13th June. I emailed to try and resolve the matter but my emails were not responded to and again the calls were not answered and on the 15th June i escalated the claim through paypal. As the company had not responded to either my or paypals emails by 22nd June i subsequently escalated this matter to a claim. Bearing in mind i had not received any contact from the comapny concerned not even to say they had received the damaged item back let alone as to where the missing item was. The company only replied to this claim yesterday 26th June via paypal, offering me a refund ONLY on the item that had been returned which was damaged. I of course rejected this offer and provided the details of the tracking number for the returned item (i had still not had any messages about the missing item). Unfortunately i provided paypal an incorrect trcking number and contacted them to amend the details within 5 minutes of noticing the error. Teh gentleman at paypal checked thos and was satisfied that i had done everything to resolve this and i was subsequently issued a full refund from the company.I thought this would be an end to the matter however i got an email this morning from the company telling me tha the damage to the item was infact a cigarette burn (i do not smoke!) and that they would be taking me to the small claims court to get their money back.I am hoping that this is just scare tactics from the company and i am fortunate as i took many pictures of the damaged corset before it was returned and i have iof course kept all the emails to and from both myself the company and paypal.I am just concerned however as i have never been in a situation like this and any threat of court action is scary indeed but I have done everythign correctly as far as i can see.Can anyone offer any insight into this situation or advice as to how things may progress before my ehad explodes??!Thanks
  18. Hey everyone. Basically I need your help! I sold a £250 ring on Ebay about 10 months ago now. Sent it, buyer was not happy saying it was fake, returned it but it was in terrible condition. Broken box etc and I later on sold it for a much lower price. Obviously he disagreed, opened a paypal case and paypal took my money. Left my paypal in negative etc. I had letters from debt collectors shortly after saying to pay, i then heard nothing for about 2 months until today! Received a letter from EOS Solutions UK PLC. 20th June 2011 Reference: Client: Paypal Private LTD Amount: £298.79 Dear Maron (last name) (my nans name in which the account was in, however i created the account and did all transactions because i am 17.. only used her name cos you had to be over 18 obviously. Also, i changed the paypal name to Maron, when in fact her name is MarIon ) bla blah call this number, in the next 72 hours to pay. We are instructed to continue collection commitments until your balance is cleared in full. So yeah, account in my nans name but i was the person who done everything and i am 17 years old. I looked at the prove it letter on this forum and am thinking of sending that. Any ideas on what to do? and if my nans credit rating will get bad?! Thanks for the help!

(apologies if i haven't put this in the right forum!) i recently sold an item through ebay, the buyer payed through paypal and i sent the item using royal mail international signed for to the united states. The buyer claimed not to have received anything and opened a dispute on paypal who then asked me to provide a copy of the receipt and the tracking number. On the royal mail website it says its been delivered, but they haven't added a copy of the signature because after speaking to them they "don't need to" - so paypal have closed the case in the buyers favour just because no signature was added to the website. I have also contacted usps, who delivered the item in the usa, and who were apparently supposed to add the signature to their website too, but of course they didn't. After being on the phone to them, they won't provide me with a copy of the signature unless i ask royal mail to do so, i have put in a claim which apparently takes an average of 3 weeks to sort out. However paypal have given me 10 days to 'appeal' their decision 'till the case is closed for good. I think based just on the fact that the delivery companies didnt add the signature, paypal automatically close the case and dont give me time to try and get the signature is appalling. What can i do? Each company is diverting me to the other.
  20. Morning all, I recently purchased an Apple Macbook Pro from a seller on eBay for a buy it now price of £1,020. It seemed a good price at the time, and obviously others thought this too as the seller sold 6 of these laptops in a matter of 5-6 hours (yesterday, 25th Oct). I paid via £120.00 out of my Paypal account and the rest was paid via bank transfer through paypal. Last night, after having my routine check on eBay, I noticed that the item wasn't in my "won/purchased" category on the side. After further checking, I noticed that the seller had completely unregistered their account and also removed all traces from the item, somehow. I'm not sure how he did this, but I bought the laptop at approx 2.10pm yesterday afternoon and I got the second last one, with the last one being sold at about 3.00pm. It seems the buyer has done a runner. I can't get any of his details from eBay as his account is unregistered and I can't even view the item I won as he has deleted it from eBay, somehow... I've opened a dispute with paypal right away but i'm not sure how much i'll be covered for. This guy seems a real [problem] artist, and has probably already withdrawn all the money from his paypal account (a hefty amount, considering he sold 6 of these laptops, adding up to around £6,100) in a day! I'm wondering what other course of action I could take? I'm planning on ringing paypal today and seeing what else they can do. They state in the dispute they want to seller to reply by 4th November, but I obviously can't see this happening, and feel at risk waiting for that date to come with no further action taking place.   21. Hi Caggers, I hope that someone can offer me some help here as I am going no where fast with this Parcelforce issue. I sold a playstation 3 on eBay and the seller has paid me via Paypal who put a hold on the money until the buyer reports that they have received it. I arranged for postage using Parcelforce 48 hour which was arranged again via paypal and the parcel that they dropped off at the local post office. Well here is where the fun begins. The item was taken to the Rugby post office on 5th October at 11:15AM and I was given a receipt confirming that the post office had taken the item and make a note of the unique parcelforce tracking number. The parcelforce website was then updated and time stamped for an hour later saying that it had been collected from the post office branch. That was 2 days ago and the status still has not changed so I contacted parcelforce via their contact-us tab on the tracking screen. The response back said that the parcel have never been handed over to Parcel force and they had no record of where the parcel was of when it would arrive at the set destination. Obviously unhappy about this, I then called the customer service line who said that the problem lay with Royal mail who has given the package to the wrong courier and that I should go back to the post office and ask them who they have given my parcel too? I then questioned as to why their own tracking screen says that Parcel force have collected it from the post office branch and I was again referred back to the main depot. After speaking to the depot I was told in a not very polite way that there was nothing parcelforce could do, the website was wrong and that there was no way I would do anything but wait and hope. There was no time frame and it could take months for the parcel to be located. If I was not happy with then they I should take it up with Royal Mail who made the error in the first place... Phew! anyway after speaking to Royal mail they have said that regardless of whose error it was, I have paid for Parcelforce and had one of their tracking numbers to the burden with solely with Parcelforce and I needed to go back to them.. Again a call was made back to parcelforce to say that I was not happy and to advise them on what Royal mail had said - the lady then got very irrate and that they it was my fault as I did not post the item within the time frame. Again I explained that I book the drop off on the sunday and took it into the post office on the tuesday which was well within the 5 day time frame clearly printed on my paperwork..suddenly I got cut off after being told that there was nothing they could do... Sorry to go on but I need help here as I stand to lose out at the moment on both the item that I sold and the money the buyer has paid. the buyer has to report the item delivered for me to get the money within 21 days or else its refunded back to him. Any advise here would be great.. really hope that someone can offer me some advise as it seem a little bit like a worse case scenario.. Cheers
  22. I've so far had no real problems with buying on ebay, and I was thinking of putting up for sale on there my collection of (don't laugh) comics. I would expect them to fetch a few hundred or so. After seeing a bad report or two on here about Paypal refunds, and also after reading ebay's selling guides, I'm left feeling unsure that ebay's a good idea. For a start off they insist that you must agree to accept PayPal as a payment method, then they say there's a Paypal fee and don't tell you how much. The thing that bothers me is the possibility of the buyer getting refunded, and me losing out - it seems to happen often enough. How can I protect myself from an unscrupulous buyer/online auction site/payment facilitator? Perhaps what I am selling isn't usually prone to [causing problems], but I feel well put off by some of the stories I have heard. Would ebay allow me to sell a catalogue containing a list of what I have for sale? Or what about classified ads on ebay? Any comments welcome, thanks.
